I really like how substantial this tool is. Made of strong, sturdy plastic. I do not feel that I need to “baby” this chopper when I use it. There are a number of really good design features. Rubber non-slip ring on the bottom of removable base. Base has a tab which makes it easy to remove. The plunger can be pushed down & twist-locked in place for compact storage. The Z-blade turns after each plunge. Good size capacity – can easily hold & chop 1/2 large onion. Easy to disassemble & wash. The only con I have is the blades could be sharper. When I chop an onion that is cut into quarters, there are chunks that have blade indentations that did not cut all the way thru. It may be operator error, but I don’t think so.This is a good replacement(at a great price) for my Pampered Chef chopper that I purchased back in the 90’s. OXO makes high quality products that I know will last, so I am very happy with this chopper.imo PC chopper is the gold standard but today’s $70 price tag is ridiculous.

The perfect chopper. Well made. All the parts twist to attach and detach for better storage. This keeps you safe from cuts and also from losing parts. The plunger part can be secured down to make smaller for storage by twisting to secure it down into a more compact size. All the parts come apart with ease to put in the dishwasher. The blade is sharp, so take care when handling while removing for washing and upon reassembling. The chopping dish has a no slip bottom so if chopping with bottom “lid” portion on, the cup stays put. The removable bottom comes off, with the same ease as removing a lid from a plastic container. It has a little tab where you place your thumb and push it away from the container. When “lid-like” bottom is removed, the chopper can be used on larger items on a cutting surface. The unit chops nicely and with ease. It’s parts fit nicely on the top rack of the dishwasher and clean up beautifully. Our old unit didn’t disassemble from the top plunger completely and after time internal components rusted and broke. The top of this chopper is made to stay clean during use and can be easily wiped off without submerging or putting into the dishwasher. This is a great idea for longevity for the working parts!

The OXO Good Grips Vegetable Chopper has become an indispensable tool in our home kitchen, and my chef husband couldn’t be happier with this fantastic addition to his culinary arsenal. This compact chopper has proven to be a game-changer in terms of efficiency and ease of use. What stands out most is the consistently sharp blades that make every chopping task very easy for him. The clear container is a thoughtful feature, allowing my husband to gauge the amount of food chopped and make quick decisions about whether to continue. The design of this chopper makes it exceptionally user-friendly. Taking it apart for cleaning is a simple task, and my husband appreciates the hassle-free maintenance. The ease of cleaning adds to the overall convenience, making it a practical choice for busy kitchens both professional and for our home. The top of the chopper, where you push down to chop the food, is generously sized. Even for a large-handed individual, like my husband, it accommodates comfortably. This ergonomic design ensures a comfortable and efficient chopping experience, eliminating any hand strain during extended use. We are thoroughly impressed with the performance and functionality of this little chopper, and it has quickly become an essential part of our kitchen. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a reliable and user-friendly vegetable chopper.

To be honest, the only reason I’m not returning this is that it was a present from my kids. They are fascinated by the chopping action and love chopping onions and garlic for just that reason. That is, however, where the positives end. Here’s what I don’t like and why I wouldn’t recommend buying it:1. Chopping is very uneven, you will end up with mostly finely chopped bits but also some sizable chunks, so you may end up either throwing those out or go after them with your knife.2. Fairly limited capacity, I found putting more than one medium sized onion in the little container will prove taxing3. Most veggies you’ll chop with this contraption will need to be cut to more bite sized pieces so they actually fit, meaning you’ll need you knife nevertheless …4. Cleaning is somewhat of a pain, too many nooks and crannies were stuff gets stuck and will be difficult to reach, plus the blade is sharp and will have to come out of its safety cover5. If the kids aren’t watching I will always use my chef’s knife instead, it doesn’t take any longer especially when chopping greater quantities, the end product will be much more even, I get to decide how finely or coarsely things are cut, and my knife is waaaay easier to clean and takes only a fraction of the space of this gadget ( just don’t tell my kids)

This Oxo Good Grips chopper is hands down, a little bigger, better quality thicker plastic, easy to disassemble and reassemble. Honestly have no idea what brand the old one was because we have had it so long and don’t remember where it came from. It was a nightmare to take apart and put back together and we didn’t use it much, because of that. Finally got fed up with it and it was starting to get pretty dull, so decided to try the Oxo. So glad I did. So excited I posted a video! Usage hint for these types of choppers: They are not designed for large chunks and volumes of food. Quarter onions and veggies first. If your chopper bogs down and gets stuck–you have likely overloaded it. Roll rinsed and dried leafy, loose herbs into a small ball for chopping. Love this so much, I am considering gifting fam members. This one did cost a little more, but very well made. Looking forward to years of use with this. Garlic and parsley, I’m coming for ya!

I really like the way this food chopper works. It minces veggies very easily and you can control how much you want to dice the vegetables. Nice for making slaw and and condiments for burgers and such.I also use it to chop up my cat food and it makes it easier for the cats to eat the food in their bowls. they don’t like pates very much but do like to lick their food. The chopped up food makes it easier for them without spoiling the taste by mashing the food up.Comes apart easily for cleanup but watch out for the cutting edge, very sharp.Since the cutter metal is very thin, I do question the need for the edge to be ground so sharp. Have nicked finger tips on occasion cleaning after use.Overall a nice product, well made and produces good results without the need to use a power source other than muscle power.

I’m an engineer and I know a good design when I see one.The guy that designed this should be given a medal. In the locked position it is compact. It is easy to disassemble for cleaning and most importantly it is ridiculously easy to reassemble.Pure genius!….And it works well too.I read some critical reviews and as you are chopping you need to move the chopper around in a circle pattern to chop well. The blade turns as you chop but you have to move the chopper to get the pieces near the outside of the chopper and not chop too long. You have to know how to use a chopper before you write a critical review.

I am a heavy cooker. I spend most of my free time in the kitchen trying new recipes. I mainly bought this because I was so tired of having to chop garlic by hand, especially when it called to a big amount. It took a lot of time just to peel the garlic and chop. This cut the time in half and easy to use. Just recently used it to make some pico de gallo and it came out perfectly. This chopper saves time and helps with messes in keeping things clean. I am so happy I got this, it has made my cooking experience so much better and it is super easy to use and clean. Plus I wouldn’t have to worry about cutting my fingers.

I tend not to purchase kitchen gadgets like this because I feel like they often get used a few times and then shoved in the back of a cabinet to collect dust until the end of time. I have a tiny kitchen so there’s no extra room, but this went on sale so I decided to give it a go and I’m SO glad that I did.I cut almost everything I eat into smaller pieces before plating so I don’t have to cut as I eat. I also eat a lot of ‘bowl’ style meals (think chipotle bowl where you can mix everything together and eat with a spoon). This chopper is great, especially for steamed veggies, making it so much faster to prep my food. I do wish the canister was a bit bigger because I usually have to do my chopping in batches, but it makes such quick work of things that it’s ultimately faster to use this than hand-chopping everything anyway.I was also worried about cleaning this thing but it’s way easier than I expected. I usually just rinse all the parts after each use and it rinses clean. I do an actual clean with soap and a sponge once a week. Super easy.

I like it and used it every now and then but this might be tossed to collect dust as I would prefer to manually cut and dice instead. It feels like I am wasting food and there are so many left behind on the blades and areas hard to reach that it’s a pain just to clean as much as you can off the blades so you don’t let the pieces go to waste.I’d say what you cut vs what is stuck on the blade and what you cant reach to go waste, 50/30/20, almost use the same amount or even more time and energy using this product vs cutting manually and getting all of it.The best way besides this product, invest into some knives and cutting board and perfect your technique, you’ll be faster and won’t waste food with less cleaning. Plus you can’t just take a whole onion for example, into this product you gotta cut it to fit it’s container so it can dice away to get the 50/30/20 split.Food somehow tastes better when you manually put in the labor. It’s the secret ingredient… atleast for me.

It’s not a bad product, it’s not a good product. The thing this product has that actually let’s be have an interest in keeping it is that it cuts my chopping into a fraction of time. The jobs aren’t pretty they’re not even it doesn’t matter cuz I just got to chew it up even more. But it takes me forever to chop even though I love to cook. And now I cut the onion into smaller chunks and can chop it down into Taco Time onion style even though it’s not completely even cuts all around. If you’re in a hurry and you don’t care I recommend this.

Love the convenience of how this comes apart for cleaning. My old chopper had a fixed housing assembly, making washing it really difficult. My only complaint is the blades are not sharp enough to chop cooked chicken or beef. So I end up using a knife to complete the task. But works great on vegetables.

I purchased this to attempt to chop potatoes into cubes. I’ve tried a few “dedicated-to-potatoes” choppers/ slicers, but regardless if they were metal, plastic, or some combination, they broke within the first few uses. They broke because the potatoes are thick and firm. Sure the metal blade would go through them, but the plastic handles would snap off due to the pressure needed to push through the potato. This device doesn’t risk breaking because the metal blades are easily pushed down evenly. It certainly doesn’t slice the potato, which is a good thing, and the cubing isn’t quite perfect, but, I can adjust how mashed up I want the potatoes by limiting the number of compressions I make. One or two compressions = nice thick pieces while 5 or more compressions gets the potato into a hash. I wish the cup was larger so I wouldn’t need to quarter the potatoes, but it’s better than hand cutting them.

The blade is very sharp on this but I still end up with mashed and smushed veggies-bell peppers and onions namely. I’ve found it does better without the bottom cover on, and just used ontop of a cutting board. It’s almost like the blades don’t reach the bottom of the device.

It’s a very good chopper. Easy to use, clean and, store. Works well on most small items. Only one complaint. It leaks liquids. I tried to make a marinade in the chopper. When I added the liquid ingredients, it all leaked out the bottom of the chopper. That bottom seal is not liquid tight.

I like that it is easy to take apart and put back together. I don’t like that it is somewhat difficult to clean the blade, I think you need some sort of tool to get into the deep small parts of the blade. It chops nuts as expected, (that’s all I’ve used it for and why I bought it.) I wish the capacity was larger.

I have had other choppers similar to this one, but this is by far the best one I have used!Update 2/25 After using this unit for a few months now, I’m even more impressed with it. The large top handle allows me to aggressively chop up as many veggies as I need without any fatigue on the palm of the hand I use to apply the chop force with. The ability to lower the handle down for storage is also a nice feature I appreciate very much.I highly recommend this chopper for your cooking needs.

Our old generic chopper broke after 7-8 yrs and though we use a food processor, rather than chop, even on pulse, it more often purees onions and celery. This chopper is of good quality, works smoothly without sticking, and is much faster and easier to use than is a very sharp knife. (Sadly, I do not have the knife skills of a chef!) For me, it is much safer than using a knife.I had some doubts about the attached jar. (My previous chopper had a screw off base with a removable plastic bottom) But let me emphasize that this jar is large enough. You must of course coarsely chop the vegetables so that they fit into the jar but it is also true with food processor prep. This jar contains your chopped contents well without mess. That is a great plus.

I love that this product is dishwasher safe. It is easy to use and works well. I use it to chop up sandwich ingredients. I mainly got it to dice onions since they make my eyes water a lot. It chops them up perfectly. I will say that the ingredients you put in can get stuck up under the handle behind the blades, so just be careful when washing.

I am not love with this tool, but in certain use cases it can be handy. Like many kitchen gadgets, it gets put away on a shelf, largely forgotten until that one time a year when it gets to shine. The most important things are how well it chops and what it’s capable of chopping. It chopped lightweight herbs, like cilantro, very well. Easy peasy. It chopped shelled pistachios too. But it couldn’t chop rosemary because it’s too tough. It just bruised the heck out of it.So how well does it chop? Meh. You’d always do a better job with a knife by hand, but you knew that. This will chop some bits more finely than you want and leave larger chunks behind too. I shook it after every few chops to try to redistribute my herb bits, but that was still the end result. It is very easy to disassemble and reassemble, which makes cleaning it pretty easy. Except when you are trying to clean it very thoroughly, because it’s hard to squeeze a sponge in the crevices of the zig zag blade without slicing yourself. I usually just give it a rinse if I’ve only chopped a few herbs.Overall, if I am just chopping a few nuts to put in a salad, or if I want cilantro for my guac, I’ll use a knife to get the pieces the exact size I want. But if there is a particularly large job, especially one that involves many herbs (some recipes I cook ask for cilantro AND mint AND something else!) then I’d use this bad boy to speed things along.

As a mother of 3 young children, my hands are usually full (literally). My dad bought this as a gift for me when he saw me attempting to chop nuts with one hand while holding a baby in the other. This is one of my most-used kitchen items. From garlic to vegetables to nuts. I use this chopper on a daily basis. It makes chopping things a breeze and significantly speeds up the process. I love that it can be used with only 1 hand. It is also a great tool for kids to use when they are trying to help in the kitchen as the blades are protected by the plastic covering. I also used this when introducing my babies to solid food. Instead of giving them baby food from a jar, I just chop whatever we are eating super fine and let them eat that. I would highly recommend this to anyone with young kids who either would like to include them in the cooking process or would just like to save a few minutes of chopping.

It just makes no sense to drag out the big boy to chop some cucumber, carrots and tomatoes for a small salad. I use this 90% of the time for vegetable chopping and it was 30% of the price of my large size chopper. I’ll bet you will find similar results.

Saves time and danger if you’re uncoordinated like I am, but it’s more of a randomized chopper than an even square cutter the way the images lead you to believe. You will not get nice uniform squares of onions as shown in the photo.More of a puree machine than a chopper.

I didn’t like that the blades didn’t cut the onion or the tomatoes very well. It is worrisome to clean because you get near the sharp blades to dislodge food from between the folds of the blades. It was hard to take apart without touching the sharp blade surface.

So my Pampered Chef chopper after 15 years, has started breaking down. I gave this chopper a try before ordering again from PC. In the picture provided–You can see an obvious difference in the blades. PC’s blades are a W with 6 blades—–OXO’s has 5 blades that are more spread out. It did not chop finely enough for my needs. As a basic chopper, it will do a good job and is very well made. Returned.

Yes, this chopper might be a bit more expensive than the others. However, having used the cheaper alternatives to this one, this is the best version. They all chop well, are easy to use, etc. But where this product shines is in its cleaning; the product almost entirely breaks down into parts, and each part is locked together securely, not some cheap tabs or being held on by hopes and prayers. While with some of the other cheaper ones, you can’t remove the base of the cup, with this one, you can, and with some of the others, you can’t remove the blade unit from the plunger, but with this one, you can, which all makes clean up a breeze.

This is ok, and beautifully designed like most Oxo products but it still primarily depends on individual strength to chop. I found almonds were extremely difficult, and even peanuts took a bit of work. I’ve only used it on nuts though, as I have a veg chopper that works great. Wish I could put nuts in it!

I enjoy cooking but wouldn’t say I’m a great chef and this was a slight impulse purchase. I was surprised by how much I like using it though. It’s easy to use and makes quick work of whatever I need chopped or diced. I love how fast it is to disassemble and pop in the dishwasher to clean and that it compacts down a bit for storage. Works well. Only wish there was an easier way to clean the blade.

Owned one of these a long time ago, but it was not the quality of this item. Saw this demonstrated on James May Oh Cook and decided to get it. Fantastic chopping tool when you want to quickly prep and not deal with knives. Disassembles easily for cleaning.

This chopper works great. Comes apart to clean. Such a time saver when chopping anything from carrots to nuts.

I bought this to help with chopping leafy veggies that my other (now-returned) chopper couldn’t handle. It does a great job with that, but is designed in a way that allows for food to get stuck in inaccessible places. It also has very little capacity, and gets messy when you open it to empty it out.May be helpful for chopping small amounts at a time. It’s much more convenient for me to do the job myself with a good chef’s knife. No food gets wasted, and I don’t have all these parts to clean and try to get food out of.

Very sturdy and blades are sharp. Makes short work of chopping, especially nuts. Recommend over cheaper brands.

Just arrived today and just finished lunch where I gave it it’s trial run/maiden voyage. I have had a few of these and not been impressed. Mostly they were good for walnuts. This oxo one is easy to take apart (there are quite a few parts however) and easy to clean. It seemed to work fine and the honest truth is the main reason I got it was to keep one of my many other electric versions from taking up more counter space in my small senior apt. I don’t mind using a knife but I usually make 2 dishes )OMD) that encompass aprox 50 ingredients. Next time I will know better how to stage all I put in it. Update: my model is designed to not be capable of using it without the cup attatched. Very dissappointed in that design though I realize it is for safety reasons. I see from other review that there are several models. I was hoping to use my chopper directly onto one of my bamboo cutting boards. Bummer.

I’m not a fast onion cutter, but this device slows that process down honestly. Cut my finger on the blade but that was user error haha can confirm it’s sharp.

We’ve had an older version of this, and this is much better. It comes apart much more than before in order to wash. I’ve always loved this chopper, and still do.

It’s okay as choppers go, but you have to open it up several times to remove large chunks that get in between the blades making it inconvenient.I haven’t tried any other choppers so I have nothing to compare it to.

If you cook a lot a vegetable chopper is a must have. This is my 3rd chopper. My first was a PChef that I used for about 20 years the second was a very inexpensive version that I wouldn’t recommend. I was actually happy to discard it and buy OXO.This chopper is the best of the 3. I’m vegan and cook at least 2 times a day so this gets used a lot. What I like most about it is how easy it is to use, then clean. Compared to my other 2 OXO takes the least amount of effort to chop.I’ve used it on nuts, onions, carrots, frozen garlic and ginger root.I highly recommend this chopper

This is an excellent small nut chopper. As others have stated, it doesn’t really work for chopping vegetables. But it’s perfect for me to chop up a few almonds to put in my Greek yogurt.

I am super impressed with this chopper! I absolutely love that it easily breaks apart for cleaning. I make home cooked meals for my pup, and this has been a must have for meal prep! It dives chicken, pork, beef and vegetables with ease! I would not only suggest you buy it, I suggest you buy two! Just in case they stop making it! 😁

I love this vegetable chopper. While I’ve used it for several things, it works especially well for quickly chopping onions. It comes apart for easy washing too. Dishwasher safe. OXO is a good, long-lasting brand in my experience.

We use this to chop up our dog’s ‘special diet’ dry food because her little teeth can’t do it. This hand chopper is the best we’ve tried. Small bits at a time work perfectly and don’t turn the food into sawdust as a blender or food processor would. Happy we found it!

Great for chopping veggies (peppers, onions, zucchini, etc.), makes food prep a breeze. The more you chop, the smaller the pieces get

This has been a good chopper but broke after 15 months. It was not heavily used, used mainly to chop garlic and ginger. Our last chopper lasted us for nearly 5 years. Disappointed!!

It’s the best garlic mincer i have found, other than i’m ordering my fourth one as I type this. The gray colored neck inside has cracked four times. I mean, they’re only 20bux, but it definitely needs improving. I am not exaggerating. The same component has cracked on all four. C’mon guys, please fix this.

I chose this particular chopper because we’d already had an OXO chopper for several years & it worked good enough, until it didn’t.I do like that the blade is removable from the housing on this version. That makes cleaning much easier than the previous version. The blade is sharp and there’s been no problem chopping through garlic (it is the only thing that I use this for). That being said, I don’t like that the plastic guard isn’t closer to the blade, because a lot of garlic gets stuck on the wrong side and it’s difficult to dig out of the ridges/edges.I know, “1st world problems”.

Oxo makes some seriously amazing products. This is no exception! I’m a single dad so I do cook and when I do, I try to make “homey” style food for me and my son. This gadget helps achieve that when the recipe calls for it! It has a smooth and effortless chop and is easy to clean with soap and water.
