It was making a loud noise and wasn’t carving the ice well so I took it apart and reassembled it so the end of the spring was on the inside. Also, I froze some ice and couldn’t get the lids off so now I am freezing with the lids off. But the shaved ice is light and fluffy.

This ice shaver is sturdy, super easy to use, and a great deal.When I realized I was spending $5 a day or more for shaved ice in the Record Breaking Texas Heat, I decided to purchase an ice shaver. Instead of sugary syrup, I froze Gatorade. The Gatorade ice shaved beautifully. Bonus: it came with three containers for freezing the liquid. The only drawbacks are storage, it¡¯s the size of a small appliance, and that you may want more freezing containers for more than 2 people.

If you follow directions which are few and simple, this ice shaver is exactly as promised. It is so much less noisy than the electric. The ice is fluffy and like snow. Easy to use and easy to clean. We had a family party so I froze extra ice and individually stored them in sandwich bags. I was able to shave plenty of ice for everyone’s margaritas and snow cones.

This is my first of this kind of product. When the ice is in the perfect position, if it is not it does nothing, it shaves up the ice into a powder. But you have to keep readjusting the ice disc. The metal shavers are really small. I don’t think that it would last a full summer. The blades will be worn down. But I will enjoy it for now.

I’ve never tried shaved ice before, so I have no point of reference, but it’s just as I imagined. I’ve been using it almost every day since getting (a week ago) it and I’m very happy with it so far. If you use it with normal ice cubes, the cubes have a tendency to fall through the shaver when they get sufficiently small, and you get these chunks of ice mixed with the shavings. Using the included ice molds prevents that, but it’s not a huge problem in any case.Obviously I can’t comment on longevity after only 1 week, but it’s easy to take apart and clean, so the first problem I can see happening is if the blade gets dull. The blade is attached with two screws so it should be possible to remove it for sharping or replacement without problems. I could also see the spring losing tension over time, and this seems hard to replace, but hopefully it won’t be a problem for a long time and it can be compensated for by just pressing down on the ice manually.Overall, the product does its job well, seems robust and its easy to understand. I have no complaints.I use Kool-Aid Liquid for flavoring, and it’s delicious.

Easy to use and shaves the ice quickly. One ice container makes 2 decent sized snow cones for a snack.

I love it. I got tired of cranking it. So I attached my electric drill and now I have snow cones in seconds. I am freezing bottled water and using MIOs for flavoring. But I pushed down on it and I broke it.

I used this product all summer and fall and it has been wonderful! Makes very fine shaved ice, the blade stays sharp after many uses, and this product comes with 3 containers to freeze water in (which are very useful to go between AND catch the shaver crank for finest shaving with no ‘skips’).One recommendation I might make after using this product and another (this one is better though) is it shaves water ice very well, but once you put flavoring in the water, freeze and then shave, the shaving generally doesn’t come out as fine and can even be more crushed-ice like. It’s better to flavor the ice after shaving if texture is important to you. This goes for most machines I’ve used.

Great shave ice at a totally low price. My friend has an expensive machine. He got pissed when I brought this little goody over and it made better shave than an expensive machine. It’s just plastic but it works! Blade is very sharp.

Shaves fine ice, but you have to use the ice frozen in the provided containers or something similar. That way you get nice snow-like ice.
