So we’re on our second brand new unit after the first one made continuous screeching noises, nonstop. Got the second one going, same noises but it only lasts about 10 or so minutes. Not sure if we’ll keep it or not, good ice though. 😅Update: It’s been months now since we’ve had a working one. We had to go directly through GE and they did confirm they had a large quantity of units that had the exact issue, and we had to wait months to get an updated NEW unit. That new unit from GE is working fantastic. We also use re-mineralized RO water to fill with.

My wife and I had been debating for months before buying this unit. She was dead-set against it but I was convinced she would love it after trying it out. I finally won out after hours of bargaining. After ordering the GE Opal 2.0 with XL water tank, we invested about an hour unpacking, reading and carefully setting up our new ice maker. Then we invested another hour cleaning and following the manufacturers instructions on “first use.” We were planning a party for our daughter-in laws birthday and thought this would be a great way to test out the unit and get a little crowd reaction, too.Edit: Simply put, the first unit was defective. It ruined our day and plans for a party we already had on the books. See video.I understand that bad units can happen. Its also possible that shipping and handling may contribute to failures but our box had no indication of rough handling. I even met the delivery agent at the door to ensure the box never “hit the ground.” If these are fragile enough to be effected by shipping, that’s on GE to fix. But why are there so many bad reviews like this already? Lots of out of box failures in these reviews. Seems to me the purchasing public is doing their part. Reviews drive sales on luxury items like this. After a lengthy call with NiceShine customer service, we’re were issued an exchange but the exchange does not arrive until the day after our event – the primary reason for buying it when we did. For some reason, the NiceShine agent made the return a UPS pick up (meaning they’ll come to our house to retrieve the dead unit.) Our call was disconnected before we were even offered a choice. No attempt was made to call us back. This 1st unit was a giant waste of time for a stupendous disappointment.UPDATE: We received a functional replacement unit on July 6th. After investing another hour or so getting this set up, we were happy to see that it functions properly. But… the clip that hold the side tank on will not fit. It’s integral to the unit and because we live in earthquake county, even more critical to our situation. This figment issue is caused by the internal chassis being misaligned inside the housing and I’m not about to void our warranty to fix G.E.’s manufacturing mistake.I called customer service and was treated like someone attempting to steal the Crown Jewels. I had to provide photo evidence of my purchase, the model number, serial number and sales receipts and 3 business days later, I get an email with a link to purchase a new side tank clip. A six dollar part (plus shipping!) for a $700 product.GE, it’s warranty company and parts distributors all seem to think I’ll just pay the money. Good luck. Instead I offered to blast social media with tales of my experience and a few days later, a new offer came from G.E. They agreed to send the part free of charge. Well done, G.E. It took some fighting but you finally did the right thing. I hope other folks don’t have this experience but I did …so buyer beware. We’ve now had the unit over a month and it’s been working nicely. My wife is now glad we made the purchase and I feel pretty good about winning the incredibly small victory of getting a replacement part at no charge. It didn’t solve the problem but that’s on G.E.If you’ve read this far, you know what you’re getting into: a 50% chance at getting a good out of box experience. I hope that happens for you but you may also want to consider the MANY much cheaper options out there.

This makes excellent ice. Perfect for drinks. We own version 1 of this product and wanted an additional unit so we bought version 2. It makes ice quickly and relatively quietly. We learned from our use of V1 of the product to only put distilled water in these machines. It proactively avoids mineral build up and the associated cleaning work. The ice is simply clearer and avoids any possible taste from faucet water. It is easy to clean PROVIDED the unit is right next to your sink. Our is on a different counter from our sink requiring physically moving the heavy unit for each cleaning session. We purchased the sidetank which reduces the frequency of filling distilled water (which is based on the amount of ice you use).

I was pleasantly surprised that it took up less counter space than it actually does. You might think this means that it won’t produce enough ice but I haven’t had a problem with the amount of ice. I currently have 4 adults and 5 kids in my home and we have had sufficient ice for everyone. The only thing that I thought was odd (maybe a con) was that if I power the machine off while it has a decent amount of ice in it and then turn it back on, it cycles water through which melts some of the ice in the tray before actually producing more ice. Doesn’t really effect the production of ice, I thought it was just odd. Many have complained of the noise which I have not noticed as of yet. I have only had the machine for about a week. The noise it makes is a low hum which I expected of an ice maker. Also, the manufacturer has cleaning, sanitizing, and descaling instructions based on the type of water where you live. I am in Wyoming and we have very hard water so to avoid having to clean, sanitize, and descale the machine I buy purified water so that I don’t have to worry about cleaning, sanitizing, descaling, or replacing the filter so often. Also, I would highly recommend getting that side tank as I cannot imagine having to manually refill the ice maker repeatedly throughout the day.I haven’t really had a reason to use the app to schedule the ice maker to make ice. I just let it run and it automatically stops when the tray is full of ice and automatically continues as it decreases in ice.I’ll update this review with any changes in a few months.

I live in South Texas near the Texas Mexico border and it’s ungodly hot here. I was not able to keep up with the ice trays & my fridge doesn’t have an ice maker. I finally took the plunge and bought this ice maker! Woohoo so happy I did.I also bought the optional filter and use RO water since our water here is very hard. I’m hoping to prevent some of the issues mentioned in the reviews. I’ve had it about 2 weeks and so far so good. It’s great having ice all the time!Update: I’ve had it a month and it now has the cleaning light flashing. I’ll be running the descaling and cleaning cycles. I’ve only used RO water with the optional added filter. Looks like I’ll be doing this monthly during the summer months which is about 9 months of the year in the Rio Grande Valley Texas.

I did a lot of research on machines for the house. I looked at multiple units, some that required a drain. I had a smaller Frigidaire but it required constantly filling the water during the day and although it claimed to make 26 lbs during the day, it was a slow and tedious process in getting to the 26 lbs. The ice also melted extremely fast even in a Yeti cup. I am extremely happy with this GE Profile and even though the ice is smaller (and in larger amounts), it lasts longer compared to the larger cubes from the Frigidaire in my Yeti. Some things to note, it does have some noise to it. But not enough to bother me and it was relatively the same as the Frigidaire unit. I did read the comments and someone mentioned scheduling it to turn on and off in the middle of the night to keep continuous ice making. I guess if it stops, it melts quit a bit. Stopping and restarting helps. I love the fact I can leave this on continuously. I do like the App feature, but rarely use it honestly but it’s a nice to have for sure. And finally, I don’t have arguments with the family of 5 on why we don’t always have ice. The side XL unit is an absolute MUST. Although we got the side unit, we STILL go through a lot of jugs of water. In the heat of Texas, of course we should be using it quite a bit. And USE DISTILLED WATER. Do your research on WHY to use Distilled. Makes a difference. Flavor, of course will be different than drinking water but we use filtered water from our refrigerator along with our Distilled Ice and scaling will be reduced significantly if at all. The beauty of this unit is that I don’t have to clean as much using distilled water, I don’t have to drain often, and I can leave it on constantly. Couldn’t be happier at the moment with this purchase

This thing is very noisy when it’s making ice! Any time you remove any ice from the bin, it drops below the sensor level and turns it on again. Other times, as the ice melts away from the sensor it turns on to refill it. This can be random and unexpectedly noisy if you have it near a home office like I do. Otherwise, it makes great ice–I use distilled water and have not had any issues with taste degrading as it continuously melts and makes new ice (the bin is not refrigerated, so YES, it melts). Utilizing a few scoops of ice per day, I’ve only gone through about 1-1/2 gallons of distilled water and have had it for 2 weeks. When I go out of town I’m going to shut it off and let it remake the ice when I return so it doesn’t continue to randomly turn on and make ice for no reason.

Best of the best non-commercial nugget ice makers. You have to clean it regularly, but it’s only once a month if you use distilled water (plus the ice tastes better when you use distilled). I have no complaints other than the sound something gets louder- more like a buzzing hum sound, but that’s usually momentarily. Makes ice pretty quickly, and it consumes a lot of water. It operates for 12 hours a day and with the 1 gallon side tank, it takes about a week until it needs to be refilled again. Opening the ice bin causes water to spill on the drip tray, but it’s not a lot of water. I would 100% recommend it, just be sure to purchase an extended warranty plan for it.

First of all, we had and owned the GE Profile Opal 1. We used it for two years and loved it. We used filtered water with the side tank. We used it continuously. After two years it started having problems with needing continuous cleaning. I never did a descaling cleaning which was probably the problem. We decided to purchase the Opal 2.0 during the NiceShine Prime Deals. We have not been disappointed. This ice maker is incredible and makes ice even quicker. I will be doing routine descaling cleaning cycles. One of the main things I like about the 2.0 is power panel. The older Opal was hard to determine what the lighted button was indicating. The 2.0 is also quieter. Not that the older one was annoying. We absolutely love the ice it makes.

I’ve had a GE Opal 1 for about 3 years. I loved it but was disappointed with how often it required deep cleaning to keep mold from growing. I’d heard this new design in the Opal II helped improve that issue. I took advantage of Prime Day to upgrade my machine. I love the sleek design and how it has an accessory to keep the tank attached to the machine. This model is much quieter and I love that I can turn the light on and off. It makes ice much faster than the old model. The ice drawer is sturdier and has a more user friendly design. I’ve had my new machine for almost a month and am loving it so far. I’m not noticing any need to clean thus far and used to have to deep clean the old model every 1-2 weeks. I’m hopeful this new design has improved so deep cleans can be less frequent. I haven’t taken the top off yet. So, not sure how complicated cleaning the inside tank will be. I recommend purchasing this machine or if you have an Opal I, consider upgrading.

This is my second Opal ice maker, mostly because we love this type of ice. The first one, an Opal 1.0 with side tank, died after only 18 months. Given the price that is waaayyyy too soon. I cleaned it weekly and took great care of it so it should have lasted much longer. After some anguish I decided to but the Opal 2.0 with side tank and give it another try. But this time, I bough the warranty with it on NiceShine. Once it arrived I was delighted as the ice maker worked better than the older version and made great ice.A month-and-a-half in, the “Add Water” light suddenly came on and the unit stopped working. Nothing I did would make it go away. I reached out to the warranty company who told me they woiuld do nothing because my unit should be under manufacturer’s warranty. So I reached out to Opal support. After two weeks of back and forth emails asking me to try all sorts of things, the unit still isn’t working. I had to demand that they replace it and only now find out the terms of the useless warranty. They will ship me a replacement unit once they place a $300 hold on my credit card which will remain until they receive the faulty unit back. And, since the unit is more than 30 days old, they will only replace it with a refurbished unit, not a new one.So, if I am lucky I will get a refurbished unit to replace my month-and-a-half old brand new one after tying up $300 on my credit card while the process plays out. This after spending nearly $800 on the unit and warranty.Buy this thing at your own risk – while it makes great ice, it is not well made and customer concern/support is non-existent.

I waited and waited and read many reviews and finally bought this during prime deal days and I’m so glad I did! Some say it’s runs loud, but it doesn’t bother me. It’s in the kitchen, not my bedroom. I bought the XL tank and love everything about it. I was worried the ice would melt quick in my glass, but it doesn’t. Just buy it!Update 4 months later- I have a love hate relationship with this machine. I get “add water” multiple times a week (sometimes multiple times a day) even when the tank is full. I read online the water line can get air bubbles, so I have to lift the tank, open the drawer then shut it and hold tank for 30 seconds or so to get it going. Gets SO annoying.Cleaning is a pain. I’ve leaked so much water everywhere doing it. Finally this most recent time I think I got the hang of it.Lately machine has just shut off a few times. Ugh. Could be a melted ice mess if I hadn’t noticed. On the positive side, I still don’t think it runs “loud”. It’s in the kitchen so it doesn’t bother me at all.Update 6 months later- I completely removed the side tank. So much better and also easier to clean. We have a family of 4 and I only have to add water a few times a week. Much easier and also smaller and fits better in the corner of the kitchen with out the side tank.18 month update- still going strong and still not using the side tank. I did have a squeaking issue but I googled it and found it needed to be completed defrosted. So I did that and let it sit over night and squeak went away! The scoop broke so I bought a nice metal one. But still overall glad I bought, we use it all day everyday!

This is a great ice machine, setup took about 15 minutes including running 6 cleaning cycles before use. Key things to note when setting it up. 1. pay attention to the hoses in the back if hooking up an external reservoir, only one of them can be use for hookup, it has a small white tag identifying it but I could see how it could be missed. If you hook up the wrong hose the system will not draw water. Give adequate clearance to the device to promote good airflow both behind and and the sides. 2. Routine maintenance is key to long life, it takes 5-10 minutes to run a few cycles, make the first with a little vinegar followed by distilled water after that for a few cycles (I do this once a month) and you should have a machine that will last for many years. overall very happy with this unit.

This is our second unit. We had the first gen still under the First Built brand that died after a detailed cleaning. When the machine is working well, it’s great. I have a Samsung fridge, and if you know, you know you need an external ice maker. Just be aware of the high maintenance and quirks that come along with owning this machine.Constant cleaning and descaling is required. Even following recommended maintenance, you must take the unit apart to clear dust and clean the inside water holding tank. Mold is nearly inevitable, especially with the heat produced during use. Cleaning and descaling the tanks and tubes is a long involved process, and the dreaded ‘add water’ error is a constantly recurring issue after deep cleaning. Before you make the purchase, do yourself a favor and take a look at the Facebook pages for Opal owners to see what you are signing up for. This is not a cheap machine, but chances are you’ll need to repair or replace sooner than you think you will when spending this much money. Replacement parts are also expensive and can be hard to find. I absolutely recommend purchasing the extra warranty.I love the ice, but I don’t believe it’s worth the effort to maintain and trouble shoot the machine, especially when paying this much for it. Honestly I wish I would have just replaced the fridge after maintaining the two units we’ve had. And if I’d seen the Facebook pages before purchasing #2, I wouldn’t have bought the replacement. I am convinced many five star reviews here are on brand new machines that haven’t had a deep clean yet.Imagine what’s inside every commercial ice maker at restaurants and workplace break rooms, too. Ice tray ice isn’t as enjoyable as nugget ice, but it’s far easier to make and more hygienic.

Great nugget ice maker, our fridge ice maker went out, didn’t want to replace fridge, fairly new. We were getting so tired of filling ice trays, we looked into counter ice top makers, and this one kept coming to top of list. Kinda pricey but diffently worth the money. Saw some complaints of noise made, but no issues with ours. Very glad the wife and I made this purchase! Update 6/30/24, no issues, we have use distilled water from the start and have not had any issues having to clean it. Use distilled water if you don’t want to have to clean it often. When it needs to be cleaned, remove the ice tray, make sure resovuor is full with water, hit cleaning cycle, let it cycle one time then hold down the cleaning button 3 seconds. It will go back to making ice. That way you don’t have to unplug drag to sink and drain. We have had no scaling using distilled water.

When we first received it, it was great. Ice is delicious and noise was minimal. I read on some of the other reviews how it was noisy, that was not the case with mine….until I had it for a month. Now it grinds and squeaks. Cleaned multiple times per instructions, nothing. Contacted Opal customer service, they said to add warm vinegar, run clean cycle and leave overnight. Did that, if anything noise became worse. Loud enough that at night my kids ask me to turn it off because they can’t sleep. Customer service emailed and asked for a video of the noise and said they would replace the unit. This was two weeks ago. I’ve replied to their initial email 3 times and no response. Will update if they ever write me back. Loved the product out of the box however quality and service seem very questionable at the moment.

Please please be aware that GE does everything in their power to void the warranty. My opal is still under warranty and I’m having to jump through hoops to get them to honor it. I was on hold with customer service for 37 mins exactly and then was told I need to video my machine making a horrible grinding noise like it’s about to explode…mind you that is a fire hazard if I’m out of my home when it starts doing this and they said they will not honor the warranty unless i do so. They want pictures down inside the unit of the filter as well as the tubes. I filed my claim online with GE 8 days prior and spoke to a rep who said i only needed to email a picture of the model and serial number and the receipt and a rep would get back to me probably the next day. Eight days pass by and nothing. I called and was on hold 37 mins and finally a rep answers. Then I’m told the lady who the case was turned over too already left for the day(mind you they are open till 8pm and it was only around 5:30pm.) I was told she would reach out in a day or two but i needed to video the problem which by way doesn’t just start right away…it can be half an hour after starting, one hour after starting or sometimes even longer. This is completely unacceptable so please keep this in mind if you are spending this kind of money on a Opal 2.0. I will never purchase from GE again if I can avoid doing so!

Comes as shown, everything was as advertised, no unpleasant surprises with the purchase or equipment and the set up is super easy and quick.CLEAN IT FIRST and follow the regular cleaning instructions no matter where you live.If you live in a high mineral area, descale OFTEN or it will have issues that are not the fault of the equipment.2 of my siblings have this maker for over a year, it’s been amazing for them so santa brought one for my family. It has been 5 months of daily use by 5 people and we absolutely love this machine. We fill the side tank about every other day with regular use. I could see not needing the side tank if it is for a single or 2 person household, but the water reservoir isn’t very large and will only produce ice for the day without the side tank option.I hate the extra price of the side tank (because IMHO it should be part of the standard machine, without the tank the machine isn’t functioning at its full capacity) but I would hate it even more had I not purchased the extra option.DO buy the side tank if it will be servicing more than 2 people or you have high ice use. The side tank allows for continuous ice flow. You will become addicted to extruded ice, even my dogs love it for a treat that doesn’t hurt their teeth.Keep it descaled, run 30 % vinegar through the clean cycle every month to keep it working well. Use filtered water for best tasting ice results.

I have had this just over a week. I read review after review for days and they were about 50/50 for love and dislike. It makes ice very quickly, it’s quiet, sounds just like a small version of a bar fridge. Just a gently hum that I do not hear unless I am near it. The app is great for setting a schedule for it to make ice or shut off. It produces and holds a significant amount of ice during the day and the extra water is nice so it doesn’t have to be filled manually as often.

I bought it for my girlfriend whose true love is probably nugget ice (and me 2nd), and she is in heaven so far. The machine works fast, creates great nugget ice as good as any fast food place or otherwise, and generally looks nice too. My only complaints are that it costs a pretty penny and is a pretty good size machine, so make sure you have the countertop space! I would definitely recommend, and will update my review if anything changes!

I love that we have the nugget ice, it’s wonderful. It does however “squeal” often and because of the set up we have, it has to stay on our kitchen counter therefore, we’re watching a show or movie and Opal is screaming in the background every few minutes. I’ve checked all the connections and not sure how to fix it. The ice is awesome though! If you can find somewhere other than your open kitchen counter to store.

Love everything about this ice maker…love the nugget ice, how quiet it is, the Bluetooth feature, the looks of it, and most of all…it keeps up with how much we use it. My husband and I drink cocktails in the evenings and we have yet to run out of ice. You can also set a schedule on the app to make ice at certain times if you don’t want it running continuously. Excited to try the self clean mode, too! Very happy with our purchase!

My sister told me about hers and how much she loves it. I was hesitant because of the price. Thought about it for 3 months, decided to get it on Prime Day. Now I wonder why I waited so long! It has to be one of my favorite purchases! It’s only been a month but I haven’t had any problems. I don’t think it’s loud—it’s making ice. No louder than my ice maker in the freezer (which broke and it’s expensive to fix for that refrigerator). Definitely recommend this ice machine!

This machine is a beast, it didn’t fit under our kitchen counter. But we made it work. This machine kicks out ice quickly and warns you when it’s time to clean or out of water. My kids love the little ice nuggets. I didn’t think I cared but I prefer the smaller ice over the large cubes from our fridge. When filling our hydroflasks I don’t get that solid chunk of ice, where I can’t get my straw through once I add more water into the flask. I appreciate that it recycles the melted cube water and the side tank is awesome. This has been a great addition to our kitchen.

I live in a small Brooklyn apartment and have been struggling with my ice situation for 3 years. I LOVE ice and my freezer doesn’t have enough space to house the ice trays I need. This ice maker has changed my beverage life. It’s produces ice quickly and quietly. The ice cubes themselves are tiny little rounds that are slightly wet, but not too melty. The reservoir isn’t necessary if you stay on top of filling the bottom with water. Worth the price.

The ice maker itself if great when it works. After a couple months of it working great it started making a squealing noise from the back of the unit. We have only used filtered water in it, not tap water and have done routine cleaning cycles. We reached out to GE Opal customer service over a month ago and they are non-responsive at best. Seriously, if you are wanting to purchase this unit, just don’t despite how nice it is when it works. If something goes wrong you will get ignored, they will answer the phone and tell you to send over a video of what the unit is doing wrong then go weeks without responding no matter how often you follow up.As nice as the product is when it works, it is NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE of dealing with their customer service department.

When it works the ice is great ice, but this machine will only work for about 3 months before it will give you the infamous ‘add water’ message when the tanks are full. If you look up this ice machine on Reddit, this is a common and known problem. I sent my first one back because it stopped making ice, even though I did the cleaning as directed. They replaced the machine, on the condition that the replacement did not have a warranty ( which I think they do because they know the problems. The second machine starting giving me the same ‘add water’ message after about 3 months of use. This time tried the Reddit recommendations to replace the water pump and check the float. There was no calcification in the holding tank by the float, and the water pump got it to work for about 30 days and now I get the add water message again. Save your money or spend it on another machine, just don’t buy this machine. As a side note, when I took the first machine into Fedex to return it, they Fedex rep said they had been receiving a lot of these machines to return. Mine was the second that day. It’s not sonic ice, but try the Frigidaire, I bought one and it works just fine.

We have now started to experience loud squealing noises from our ice maker. We have loved it but now it is so loud we have to unplug it. I have noticed other people have had the same issue. We absolutely love the soft nugget ice this machine produces! It’s quick to refill after filling up our two 30oz tumblers, and even then, there’s still ice left in the bucket, which holds quite a bit. The stainless steel finish and dark grey plastic look great, and we appreciate the adjustable light brightness, or even the option to turn it off. The machine is very easy to use. However, we’re giving it 3 stars because we had to return the first unit due to a huge dent, which delayed things. Although the damage might not be a product issue, better packaging could have avoided this. Also, for the price, we were disappointed that it didn’t come with a real filter. The included filter is just a plastic piece with a metal mesh, and we had to purchase a proper Opal filter separately.Another downside is that there’s no easy option to connect it to a main water line. The side tank is nice but becomes a hassle to keep refilling. The most frustrating part is the design of the ice bucket—when you open it, water tends to spill out due to condensation buildup, creating puddles on the floor. It comes with a drip tray, but we don’t like how much space it takes up on our counter.Lastly, while we love the overall look, the buttons are hard to read because they’re a light grey font on a darker grey background. This makes it difficult to see the controls clearly.Despite these issues, we’re still pleased with the ice maker and would recommend it to others. We hope GE considers these points for future improvements!

The Opal makes ice really fast. Two of us using it and it really keeps up.Easy to clean, easy to operate.I use distilled water hoping to avoid the need to descale it too often. This beats my refrigerator icemaker by far.Ice is bite size and easy to nibble on if you are like me.

This machine pumps the ice out. It’s the perfect size and it makes it so so fast. The only thing I do is whe it fills to the top and stops making ice I open it and use the spoon to brea out the ice mound to allow it to make more because there room for more ice in the front. It’s really no trouble since I’m home to do it!! High quality, extremely functional.

I will never buy another GE product and I hope this review stops other Ms from going through this same nightmare!!!Update: took a day off as I don’t work remote and Opal hours are the same as I work. Spoke to Opal rep and completed all of the diagnostics. Same “add water” error occurred. Had to send unit specific information and they are going to send me a box to return the unit. Once they receive back, they will review and either fix or send a new unit. And, oh by the way, the warranty doesn’t reset so if the new unit is as crappy as this one, I’m out the $500. Ridiculous!!Update: Had a GE technician come out. He ran the troubleshooting and was told the machine would be replaced under warranty and someone from GE would be reaching out to coordinate.LIES… that was 3 weeks ago and no one called do I called. The GE rep transferred me to the Opal division where I was asked to again troubleshoot and that the technician was from GE not Opal so everything they said/did was incorrect. We owned a GE Opal 1.0 and it ran great for 3+ years. When it finally died and we couldn’t find replacement parts any longer, we purchased the Opal 2.0. What a waste of money. It is broke more than it works. We are constantly getting “add water” when the reservoir as well as side tanks are both full. We have tried all of the hints from the internet but no luck. We even tried GE but they were unhelpful. Do NOT buy this item.

This thing is great but one big issue I have with it is that it struggles to work sometimes. I added a GE brand filter to it and the pump could not keep up with it. It struggled to get the water through the filter. I eventually had to remove the filter and things started working again. I thought that would be the end of that issue but then it started struggling to just pull water through it at all even without the filter. I just don’t think they sized the pump in these accordingly. I think they went cheap on the pump. It’s just not strong enough.I clean it religiously. I do the whole bleach in the water just like the manual says. I flush it out etc… I maintain this thing likely better than anyone else who owns one because I’m trying to protect my investment in this thing. It doesn’t matter. This thing was just not built to last. Those who are not currently having issues, just give it time. You will. Be happy that yours is working currently and make sure you clean it often. I can’t even imagine how horrible this thing would be if I wasn’t cleaning it regularly.

My most favorite ice machine! The very small nuggets of ice has saved me so much money by not going to the local coffee/tea house for my ice teas! The ice makes the drink! The machine works very well. I use filtered water to fill up the extra reservoir I purchased. It is so much better than other ice machines I have used! I have had no issues with noise and cleaning it is rather easy. I keep it on a cart with wheels so I can drain into easily into the sink when cleaning.

I would have never expected to see myself buying a trendy $400 ice machine, but it has been worth every single penny! I adore my Opal machine so much because it makes ‘soft and crunchy’ ice like that big name fast food place is known for..! What makes it even better it getting the optional 1 gallon reserve tank – it should just come with it by default honestly because it’s that useful for running on its own.All I gotta say now is that this thing better last F O R E V E R because I am never buying another expensive ice machine again! This is an investment so show your true worth here, GE!

I was a little hesitant with this purchase but my daughter has one and loves it. And now so do I. I wanted the 3/4 gallon side tank but this one with the gallon tank was a Prime Day special and a lot less expensive so I bought it. I use it constantly and now keep myself hydrated. Love that it makes ice pretty quickly and is more convenient to use than the ice maker in my fridge. It does take up quite a bit of counter space in my kitchen, but it’s worth it. The downside is that it needs to be cleaned and sanitized about every 4 weeks. It’s heavy and not located close to my sink to drain, but I am making it work.

I don’t understand all the 5 star reviews. I would guess these are posted shortly after purchasing which I would have given it a five star if it was my first one and I reviewed it in the first month. This is our second opal. The first one lasted 16 months and died. No warranty. Said I would it not buy another. Well my wife really likes the ice so I broke down a year later and bought the 2.0 version. Great. It’s 2.0 so maybe they got their stuff together. Not so. The machine ran flawless for 10.5 months then died. Went through calling opal and after getting all the info and video they said they would send a box to ship it back and send me another. So we are waiting on another unit. What to expect. Call opal and they tell you they will send a email of what they need so they can review and make a decision. Gather the info call them back. They look at the files you sent then say they will email a decision. Then they send you an email with the decision and in my case replace the unit. Great. Waited almost two weeks to get the shipping box. Shipped the unit out. I was also required to email the tracking number which did.If you send them an email with a question don’t expect a response anytime soon. I asked a question about the warranty. Didn’t get an answer until they asked for the tracking number.Know that your warranty is not extended. Purchased on 22 Nov 23 and will end on 24 Nov 24. So if the replacement takes a dump on 25 Nov you’re out of luck. They don’t even take into consideration the month without a unit. Its great when it works. It just doesn’t hold up.

Love it! I am going to address the noise first. So it is silent -when the ice container is full. When you remove ice from the ice bin it will make ice again until full so there is a small noise maybe like a small dishwasher sound to me. Infact my husband never noticed it until I pointed it out to him🤣. We have had it two days and it is wonderful. Our son had this one and we all used it at a family get together. So I wanted one and it’s just 2 of us so it should do Amazing. Highly Recommend if you love this kind of ice- we call it Sonic Ice as we have Sonic’s that use this ice in their drinks. Enjoy we sure are!

I was hesitant to purchase because of the price but I couldn’t find anything on the market that would fit my needs like this model. The reviews were great and I LOVE nugget ice so I dove in. It’s easy to use, set up was easy. I love the ease of cleaning. It’s not noisy and the size is perfect for my coffee bar. The ice melting speed isn’t an issue. My family cannot stay out of my ice. No one even bothers to grab ice from the freezer anymore. Best purchase I’ve made this year. I have zero regrets!

This is supposed to be an award winning ice maker but I’ve had so many issues with it saying “add water” when the side tank was filled all the way with water. I’ve even drained the ice maker, descale it, replaced the filter, made sure the tube was flat and drained it again but it still just keep saying add water.

Start with the major positive – we love the ice it make.We have the side tank it and causes a buzzing noise from vibrations. Putting a folded paper towel in between significantly helps.I’ve cleaned it each week and its been a chore – not sure it’s worth the maintenance (emptying the water, removing the water filter and replacing with the screen, adding water and bleach to run cleaning cycle, adding water several times to rinse out the system, refilling the system). It takes a chunk of time to do all of that but I don’t want stuff growing in my machine so I do it.Haven’t done a descaling yet with vinegar and that seems to be a full day without the machine making ice – and once every month or two.

Don’t get me wrong, the GE Profile Opal 2.0 is a fantastic ice maker. Makes great quality nugget ice that is as close to any soda fountain/brew house ice you’ll find. Makes it relatively quickly and I’ve yet to encounter an unbearable noise from the actual ice making process. The “costs” of having such a good product isn’t in the initial purchase price; it’s in the continued cleaning costs associated with having it perform as advertised. May want to think of it as having a child. It’s not the initial birthing costs that gets you, it’s the years of providing a home and caring for a new child that adds up.We’ve had the product for almost 1 1/2 years now. It’s never had any water other than distilled/purified water introduced to either the reservoir or the actual ice machine yet I still, almost without fail, have a “needs cleaning” on the Smart Things application every 7 – 8 days. Doesn’t matter if I use the bleach or the vinegar, (both as directed) to clean, I still get the message. 1 – 2 gallons of distilled water to clean, 4 – 5 gallons of distilled water for “product,” and it gets pretty costly. “Clean” water running at $1.00 a gallon and it doesn’t take long to calculate crushed ice through your refrigerator ice maker is far more economical than the cost of raising the GE Opal 2.0 Ice Maker.Almost forgot, don’t forget the time required to commit to cleaning the ice maker. Only using the “quick” clean with bleach, not too bad; 30 minutes or so, but step into the vinegar “thorough” cleaning, count on 10+ hours, (due to the recommended sit time overnight).Nutshell – great ice but it comes with great maintenance/usage costs. One might say the ice produced is for those who have expensive tastes.

This is hands down one of the best purchases I’ve made this year. If you love ice, I’d highly recommend it! While it’s not cheap, it’s absolutely worth the investment. The 1-gallon tank is a fantastic feature, significantly reducing how often you need to refill the machine. The size is fairly large but not excessive, and it works like a dream. The ice comes out perfect every time! Plus, it’s incredibly easy to set up and use. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase.

This ice maker is so much quieter than my previous one! Which is why i bought it. I’m super happy with it save for one minor annoyance. (I call it minor because its less annoying than the constant noise of my other ice maker and only occurs when pulling out the Ice Drawer). So here it is, the condensation on the ice drawer will drip on the counter when the ice drawer is angled. Basically, every time you get ice unless you remember to try to keep the drawer level when opening but without opening too far as to pull the drawer out. They do provide a drip tray that sits on the counter in front of the ice maker, but that kind of seems like an afterthought. Seems like if that drip tray was secured to the bottom front half of the drawer it could prevent this from happening. A slight redesign would make this perfect. I hope you’re listening GE! 🙂

I had looked at this and dismissed it due to the cost. After buying a “more affordable” ice maker that you could hear hammering away while it made ice, I broke down and bought this. The old adage “Buy once Cry once” is true here. This Opal ice maker makes copious amounts of ice, the reservoir is easy to fill and the drainage system on this ice makers makes it easy to clean and maintain. When you get this machine it seems like a real appliance, not some plasticky gimmick. The packaging is top notch, mine even was shipping with a plywood base inside the box to maintain shape and reduce deformation. When running, the machine is reasonable quiet the dropping of the ice is louder than the compressor. I regret buying a cheaper competitor and wish that I had put that cash toward this instead.

Makes great ice, was really enjoying it until the ‘Add Water’ warning came on. It was strange since it had plenty of water inside and had side tank as well.Called up tech support and Cynthia was so sweet on a Monday morning. She walked me through everything I needed to do, was a pleasure to speak with, and now things are working great again. You need to take care of the machine but with a little TLC and some good tech support it will make you happy.

I regret purchasing this item and should have returned it immediately. I took a chance because my wife and daughters love nugget ice, and I trusted the GE brand to deliver quality. Unfortunately, it was a mistake. From the start, setup was a nightmare. The machine was stuck in self-clean mode during the initial setup, which took a lot of effort to resolve. Once it started working, the ice maker did produce nugget ice as advertised, but it was extremely noisy from the beginning—and the noise only worsened over time.Maintenance was another hassle. Cleaning the machine was cumbersome and needed to be done frequently to keep it running. Then, just 14 months after purchase, the machine completely stopped making ice. The warranty only covered the first year, and GE’s only solution was to send a repair technician—at my expense—costing hundreds of dollars. For such an expensive product, I expected better warranty support, but I was left disappointed. In frustration, I scrapped the GE machine and purchased a Frigidaire Gallery Nugget Ice Maker for a quarter of the price. The Frigidaire has been fantastic—it’s quieter, easier to use, and even includes an onboard water tank.Bottom line: DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON GE! It’s disheartening to see how far the quality of their products has declined. Thomas Edison and J.P. Morgan must be rolling in their graves.

Purchased this unit in July and by Christmas the unit was inoperative. Looks like the pump failed as you’ve seen with many other reviews on this site. You may have also read that Opal service is pretty bad and it is. Another issue is the pump was making loud vibrations which others mentioned in reviews as well. So dead pump, and customer service is less than helpful, basically just reading articles that are already on the site. One thing I will say is they answer generally within about 15 minutes. Having said that, they apparently can’t open a simple video which was provided in MP4 format and trimmed down to go over email. Yes, you guessed it, they require email transmission. Who does that anymore?Right now, I have to go with a 1 star because the unit is dead within six months as are so many other Opal 2.0s. If their customer service ever sends a replacement unit, I may upgrade the rating. This is a shame, makes great ice .. when it works.

I was going to purchase a nugget ice maker back in 2020 with my stimulus money but decided against putting that much money into something that I didn’t HAVE to have. Especially with the unknown of our future economy. Now that I have my GE Opal, I wished I had bought it sooner. I have had mine since August, (5 months now) and I absolutely LOVE it! I did buy the side reservoir and I think that was a great choice. We never run out of ice. It is just as quiet as most of these reviews are saying. I’m not sure why some people say it is too loud unless they have super sensitive ears or something. You will not regret getting this ice maker. Let me help you out if you are on the fence about it….keep leaning towards the yes side until you fall full steam ahead! You’ll love it too!

Needed replaced under warranty at 7 months. Support told me that replacement process can take 3-4 weeks. 1st they need to send me a box that can take 7-10 days! Then I return the ice maker and they will review it when I return it and after determining it’s defective they will replace it with a new unit. By the time I put the new unit into use, I will have only 3-4 months covered under the warranty. I’d be better off paying $100 for something else where I could replace it 4x and still be ahead.

The good ice !!!! I have eyeballed one of these for years and never pulled the trigger on purchasing one. It arrived sooner than anticipated and unboxing was easy. Setup took about 15 minutes including registering the app. I had a cup full of ice in 30 minutes. Unit has a self clean feature that makes life easier. It’s perfect size fits on my counter and slides perfectly under my cabinets. I’ve had the unit just over two weeks and I would recommend. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is the plastic scratches ridiculously easy.

This is a great ice maker when it works, but there is a reason why the warranty is only 1 year and that is because this GE product has a propensity to break down and STOP working. I didn’t discover this until actually going to the GE website and reading there how bad this product can be along with its not so illustrious history. This is a quality machine that requires regular cleaning (maintenance). Our family loved the ice maker and it would create tons of nugget ice perfect for our daily needs. Our ice maker just after the warranty expired got stuck in a defrost mode even after we spent many hours trying to run all of the troubleshooting procedures. I recommend buying this product with a long warranty and then the cost can perhaps be justified over a period of 3 or 4 years.

I would’ve given this unit a five star rating until a few months ago when the unit died. You can see my video to get a brief explanation, but the problem is is the unit enters in defrosting mode for up to an hour or even up to two days or longer and then the unit just shuts off then turning the unit back on, it looks like it’s trying to make ice, but it’s actually not then after a couple of hours of making ice which it doesn’t it will then flip over to this defrosting setting and again it starts the cycle all over for an hour up to a day two days then the unit just shuts off. The bottom line is the unit will not make ice anymore no matter what troubleshooting is done and even following the steps in the manual and also from GE customer support. I meticulously serviced and cleaned the unit every 3 to 4 weeks just like the instruction said. None of it worked to prevent what happened from happening. But I’m really giving this unit probably less than one star if I could because the GE service is horrible – we trouble shot it for over a month and each time, they would send me something else to try which it failed then they would send me something else to try and of course it would fail. This went on a half dozen times before I finally just gave up because they ghosted me so GE support is terrible and if you have any intelligence at all, you would not pay this kind of price for a unit like this, knowing the manufacturer will not stand behind their products at all. Do not purchase..

The machine itself is wonderful. My problem is that when I bought it, I assumed it was new. I didn’t select the “buy used” option. So when it arrived I discovered the box has been opened and it had clearly been used. Not even cleaned. But by then I had set it up and started using it so I decided not to return it. 2 months later I have had to throw it away because ANTS invaded it. So obviously whoever owned it before put something crazy in it (juice, soda?) and I’ve cleaned it several times only to have the ants return and they are ALL INSIDE IT. When I complained to NiceShine they told me I bought it from NiceShine reseller…I was like huh??? No I didn’t. But they said I did. So this time with the new one I ordered I double and triple checked to make sure it says NEW. I would never have paid $500 for a USED ice machine in the first place. And yet this new one is the same price I paid for the previous one…? Anyway the machine is 10 out of 10, love the ice and the volume of ice and the ease of use. I just hate that I spent $500 on a used, dirty machine and now have just had to buy yet another one. So be careful when you purchase…make sure you’re buying NEW.

I paid $712 dollars to get a ice machine that was previously use open box and it does not work properly. The seller should not be selling defective appliances that other people had returned. I bought the same unit for my mother and her you cannot hear her unit when it runs, does not make the noise like the one I just bought, its much louder and by the wear of the the original box this item was sold hoping that the customer would just keep it. This is the 3rd time I purchased and expensive appliance from NiceShine, and the item I received was used / a reutrned item. Its terrible that this is what the seller thinks of a new new customer. Make a note to the seller when purchasing appliances tell them “Do not send me a returned Item send me an unopened box, thats never retirned or opens.

For a few months this machine was perfect. After month 3, it takes 1 hour 20 minutes to fill the ice bin. It is 6 months since I bought this now and it still takes 1 hour 20 minutes to fill the bin. When I called GE, they stated that is not a malfunction but rather the temperature of my home. What??? Now when we have company, it’s a disaster with ice. It’s had the add water issue and the clean function starting on its own but I fixed it myself. This though, makes it useless. From 12 or so minutes like it says in the description to 1.5 hours is absurd. I will never buy any GE product again. They go out of their way to not honor their warranty.EDITED to say, it now takes 4 hours to make all the ice and its been cleaned regularly with their expensive 30.00 solution.

There should be a choice for -5 stars. We bought this because my wife has blood cancer and needed to chew ice pretty constantly both for her health and for her well-being. We started having these terrible sounds and troubles with it within about two months. Increased our cleaning schedule to more than recommended and it did pretty well until about nine months into it. We called the company and had to go through all kinds of gyrations to get them to send us a new one, which took a long time when my wife pointed out her need for it because of her cancer they sent it right away, but that was after a long time. Then the new one only lasted four months. When we called them for a replacement on the new one it tough luck. The warranty is only for one year and the combined usage was just a tad past one year. With weeks of non-use. So when you buy this thing, expect a lot of problems as you’ll see in other reviews And expect them to expect it to only last a little longer than it’s warranty if it’s anything like our experience. My wife went through about two of the side tanks a day.

I have used portable ice makers for years. This machine makes great little ice cubes. It hold lots of water with the side tank you may need to get use to how much water to fill the tank depending out your use. I use for a week at a time, or so.

We owned the opal for 14 months. We loved it, and cleaned it regularly following instructions. We also used distilled water because we were so paranoid about using our hard water from tap. We also made sure the unit had plenty of space in the back for good circulation. I did all the research because I wanted the unit to last.Unfortunately it stopped working after 14 months. We called service and they had us do some cleaning cycles but due to it being out of warranty they could not help us any further. They gave us the number to a local GE repair shop. Called that number but they said the unit is not something that can be repaired. This is very disappointing for something pretty expensive. We were very hesitant buying in the first place due to the expense and totally regret it now. It’s one thing for the unit to break but entirely another thing for something so expensive to not even be repairable. Lesson learned. We WILL NOT BUY another GE product. I recommend you start with a cheaper ice maker first or you’ll end up feeling like a sucker… we certainly do…

This GE nugget ice maker is absolutely amazing. It cranks out a solid amount of ice and does it quickly—fast enough to keep up even during get-togethers when everyone’s going back for refills. I always have ice ready, no stress. The side water tank is generously sized, so I’m not constantly running back and forth to refill it. And it looks great on the countertop—sleek, with a soft blue light that you can turn on or off depending on the vibe.I snagged mine on sale, so the value was even better, but after 7 months of daily use, I can honestly say it’s worth full price. It’s an investment, sure—but like any good appliance, you get what you pay for. If you love nugget ice, this machine is the real deal. Highly recommend!

great product, easily installed. unit does make noise so I suggest to put the unit in a pantry or laundry area. The shut off button solves the noise problem and allows you to keep the ice for hours without any noise issues. Ice quality is superior. My family is hooked on the ice. We use the unit all the time.

I will say this 1st: I suggest buying the extra warranty from Assuran. My first machine stopped working after the warranty and they gave me my money back right away with no problems. GE is another story. I love this machine, however I am on my 2nd Opal. The first one lasted about 2 years. This last one has not lasted a year. I follow all the instructions on cleaning and maintaining the machine. I clean it regular (once a week), only use distilled water. The problem I am having is it says it’s making ice then goes to defrost. I called GE (because it is still under warranty) GE says to file a claim, they need my order detail page, no problem, picture of the back, no problem, picture of the inside with no ice or water, no problem, lastly, a short video (30 seconds) of what the machine is doing. It takes the machine 25 or so minutes to go from Making ice to defrost. How do I make that into a 30 second video?I have family that have this same machine and have not had any issues.

I love this ice maker! We use it every single day. Set up was a bit time consuming. Definitely need to run clean cycles regularly which isn’t hard to do. I think this machine will last a long time if cleaned properly at the recommended times. The cleaning light blinks when it’s due to be cleaned. The ice is just like Sonic ice and who doesn’t love Sonic ice? Would definitely purchase again. I cannot speak to the longevity because I’ve only had mine a couple of months.

This unit replaces my 5-year owned Opal 1 (I got tired of the constant screaming and squealing even though I regularly descaled it), and I am disappointed in the Opal 2.0. First, the attached reservoir is smaller than the square and boxy Opal 1, even though I bought the XL size, and the ice bin holds less ice as well. Second, when the machine starts up after it detects the ice bin needs topped off, water starts to pour out onto the ice it’s already made instead of falling down the back of the ice bin – this is a design flaw as it melts about a quarter to a fifth of the remaining ice. Third, when I add an Opal filter the machine claims I need to add water (worked just fine in the 1.0). Fourth, the metal housing is discolored as if it had a bunch of tape on it that etched the metal, leading me to wonder whether this was a refurb that was sold to me as new.

Katherine B. –
Makes great ice and is fast to making it. It’s been making a weird grinding sound & have been trying to figure out how to use the warranty, to make a claim.
Corry Sims –
Mark Gordon –

Jodi –

Very expensive for the length of time it works. We’ve bought three, one every 2 years.

DT –
I bought it for my girlfriend whose true love is probably nugget ice (and me 2nd), and she is in heaven so far. The machine works fast, creates great nugget ice as good as any fast food place or otherwise, and generally looks nice too. My only complaints are that it costs a pretty penny and is a pretty good size machine, so make sure you have the countertop space! I would definitely recommend, and will update my review if anything changes!
Erik Steensen –
Addicted to the ice this machine puts out. Lasts 27 months and then dies. We are on our 3 rd machine.

Lori shaver –
Love everything about this ice maker…love the nugget ice, how quiet it is, the Bluetooth feature, the looks of it, and most of all…it keeps up with how much we use it. My husband and I drink cocktails in the evenings and we have yet to run out of ice. You can also set a schedule on the app to make ice at certain times if you don’t want it running continuously. Excited to try the self clean mode, too! Very happy with our purchase!

$500 for an ice maker seems excessive and steep. Makes good ice, it would get 5-stars if it were based solely off the wife’s raving about it.. but it was $500+ so over priced slightly IMO. Great product

I love the ice shape . So far it’s working good.,I would recommend the one with the extra water compartment or you will be constantly filling the water reservoir. I have only had the ice maker for a couple months but so far it’s working good.

Had to return it because wouldn’t fit under counter in kitchen. Seems to be the top of line though

We clean it often and have taken great care of it. I may have received a faulty product possibly. However, is there some way to address my issue that I don’t know about?
TR –
I waited to buy this during Prime days (thanks NiceShine) so the discount made this slightly less pricey. Works well….but loud when making ice. Louder than other counter-top models I have used previously.

Liana –

NiceShine Customer –

Marshall –
I’ve waited awhile to write a review on this. Love the ice. It’s great ice. The machine takes a lot of TLC. You need to keep the vents clean. You need to clean it with solution regularly. Anything less and it will break.

This is supposed to be an award winning ice maker but I’ve had so many issues with it saying “add water” when the side tank was filled all the way with water. I’ve even drained the ice maker, descale it, replaced the filter, made sure the tube was flat and drained it again but it still just keep saying add water.
B in Boca –
Sheila –
I can’t say enough about this icemaker! I paid extra to get the larger reservoir and it was well worth it!! I love the size of the ice which is more of a crushed ice and it makes ice very quickly! A+ plus plus!
Just the Facts –

Gabe Langholtz –

Best purchase I have made in a while. Waited a year comparing pricing on it to make sure I got it at the lowest price. It runs every day at our house and the side tank allows us to not have to be refilling it often. Set it and forget it. Cleaning process on it is easy as well. Overall great purchase
T. Lindholm –
Great ice except after just 6 months it makes a very loud noise. It is so loud we have to turn it off
Michael L –
I’ve been through 3 ice machines in last 4 years. Most of them lasted less than a year. This machine is far superior. Easy to use, generates ice quickly and comes with a supplemental tank so refilling is a breeze.
Gregory Mueller –
We’ve used 1-2 ice machines annually, struggling with slow ice production. The GE Ice Maker solved this issue, providing consistent ice even during hot days and parties. We highly recommend it..
John F Winkeler –
Darryl Low –
Makes great ice, was really enjoying it until the ‘Add Water’ warning came on. It was strange since it had plenty of water inside and had side tank as well.Called up tech support and Cynthia was so sweet on a Monday morning. She walked me through everything I needed to do, was a pleasure to speak with, and now things are working great again. You need to take care of the machine but with a little TLC and some good tech support it will make you happy.

Second time on trying to leave a review. NiceShine deleted it.Ice works makes ice. Was going to gift it for Christmas. The issue was the way it was shipped. The side of the box had a hole in it. I opened it up and the ice maker has a dent on the side. It seems to be working so far.

Bulky, but it is one of our favorite appliances. We clean it regularly, and it works great.

Worked really great until it broke within the first 6 months of using it. This is our second one to break. It seems like these things are not meant for daily ice usage and more for occasional use.

We love our ice maker! Pellet ice is the BEST. It’s a great size, the water tank means we only have to refill about once a week or so, and it’s super easy to use and even set on a schedule. Cleaning it can be somewhat of a chore but it’s pretty easy to be honest.Highly recommend!
Kip Durney –
This is my second opal. I love the small eyes in the convenience of having it at the bar, but cleaning this thing is such a pain. It’s extremely time-consuming and can get gross if you ignore it. It’s a lot of work for small ice.
Karen H –
My husband and I both love nugget ice and the Opal did not disappoint. We setup the wireless start and stop times and it works perfectly. We have ice when we get up and it last all day. The side tank is a must have so you’re not filling up the reservoir too often.

Died after 19 months, 5,136 pounds of ice made. Little over 2.5 tons. Weekly cleanings and descaling every ten days. 11.6 cents per a pound of ice at the price it was purchased at… May get another. Hope it lasts longer.

Jason –
I didn’t care for this. when I would go to get ice half of it would be melted. I feel like it’s over priced for that it is.

I’ve had nothing but good service from this machine. I’ve read the bad reviews but I’ve had it in full-time service for almost 2 years.I do use a Britta pitcher which filters the water, I only use filtered water.

Ckotila –
We have had ours for 15 months and after about 3 months the love affair was over. We clean it as recommended, use filtered water, descale as recommended and now it has stopped making ice. GE provides no help other than sorry warranty over. If you decide to waste your money on this thing buy the extended warranty.Called GE Service Line three times and they won’t help if unit is over a year old.
Adrock67 –

Fantastic countertop icemaker. No issues over the last 8 months of use. Ice stays replenished throughout the day. refills rather quickly and able to use immediately. Life span has been good so far. A little heavy to move around. Cleaning is pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

Yall when i tell u i couldn’t sleep because i was so excited for this thing to get here!!!!!!!!!!! I didn’t really feel like buying it brand new because $500 is ridiculous so I bought it used. I can honestly say you cannot tell that its used. It does take a few minutes to start making ice but once it starts it starts!!! The only negative I can say is that it didn’t come with any instructions but youtube definitely did help me figure out how to put it together.

Love this, can make ice when I want or as much as I want! Works great and it’s fast, easy to take care of, and looks great.
Sarah Elizabeth –
Tina Hillstrom –

Worked for 2 years, now it’s garbage!! Makes horrendous noise & won’t make ice. Sadly, save your money!!

Love this machine! Makes ice exactly like a popular fast food chain. Highly recommend! Great price is also a plus!
