I am incredibly disappointed with the first machine I recieved today…Problems:*Scratches all over the machine.*Display screen missing protective cover.*Display screen appeared to have water damage underneath; weird because it didn’t appear used.*Display screen was literally lifting up from the device. Had to press it back down. Shame for brand new machine.*Likely quality control issue as even the name glued to the device is not properly placed.*User manual indicates there’s a 6 pod starter pack; nope! With this type of device at this price point, no excuse for not including sample pods. Good thing I purchased a couple pod packs with the machine, however, NiceShine only has 3 of 9 available flavors and no variety pack.*Liquid leaks out when removing the glass bottles. I first noticed this with just plain water. Prepare to spill your libations if exchanging fluids. The Good:*Overall, good form factor. Machine looks great in my bar area.*Pretty easy to use.Other observations:*The Sex on The Beach Cocktail seemed “weak” and overly sweet.*I’m not a huge plain margarita fan, but it is actually pretty good. I’d be interested in flavored margaritas.*There should definitely be a Mai Tai cocktail.*Right now the liquor pours are 0 oz (mocktail), 1 oz (light) , 1.5 oz (regular) and 2.5 oz (strong). There should be a way to manually adjust the pour from each level, kind of the way you can adjust the espresso pull on a nespresso.I ordered a replacement device. Hopeful the 2nd time will be the charm as far as the physical issues are concerned. Counting on the company to address other issues in the future.***UPDATE***Looks like NiceShine now has the other available pod flavors.

I ordered the product and received it in time for a dessert party I was having in my house for 40+ guests. It was awesome. All my guests was super enthused about this product, which allowed us to not need to have a bartender for the event. Normally we just serve beer or wine at parties (and I’m not a drinker myself) so I didn’t know that the uptake on cocktails would be so high!I’d ordered several varieties of capsules and quickly ran out of a few flavors (whiskey sours and rum breezes), which seem like they’d be simpler drinks to mix anyway (? don’t know), but everyone really liked the variety and the exotic name mixes like Sex on the Beach were big hits :-)It was great how quick the machine worked and how easy it was to use. My only problem is that I didn’t have enough cocktail glasses and I needed to use wine glasses because the demand was so high for the machine. The tray where you put the empty glass is close enough to the nozzle so the machine expects you to put shorter glasses in it (vs. long stem wine glasses), so I had to hold the long-stem wine glass at an angle up to the nozzle rather than just set it in the tray. Not a problem for normal people, but be prepared for high demand for cocktail glasses if you’re having parties!I was surprised how many people preferred these liquor drinks rather than beer or wine. It was probably 80% of people, although maybe that is partly because of the novelty of the device… everyone wanted to try it.Another thing I encountered was that when I closed the flavor capsule into the receptacle (same as you’d pop in a Keurig capsule into a coffee maker), that sometimes the capsule wouldn’t be recognized. This was probably because the device was being used so much (it made probably 60 drinks that night)… but I quickly found out why: they have a barcode scanner camera in the machine so the machine automatically knows which capsules require which types of alcohol (it makes the mixing process completely automatic)…The problem was that the barcode scanner gets fogged up occasionally… If you are making a lot of drinks, and it doesn’t recognize the capsule, just run your finger on the glass surface about the capsule where the bar code scanner is (to wipe away the condensation/fog on the camera lens) and it instantly works. I had to do this 3 or 4 times in the evening. A small glitch in a high use condition. It’s a huge party hit and lots of people left my house saying they wanted to get one for themselves or for Christmas/wedding gifts.A final note: put a bowl or basket or something next to the machine to put the used cocktail pouches so the liquid drops from the used pouches doesn’t get the table sticky. That’s something you don’t have to think about as much with a Keurig!

UPDATE: 1/08/2020It seems my second round with the Bartesian has been a home run. My replacement unit, unlike the first, did not come scratched or buffed even though it was packaged in the exact same box as the original. Quality control with Sunbeam, the Bartesian manufacturer listed on the outer shipping box, might be an issue as I have read other reviews and viewed photos of similar scratches and buff marks on the plastic of their machine. For the money spent, this should not be an issue.PROS:1. The Bartesian provides a stupidly simple way to enhance your adult beverage drinking enjoyment with an assortment of capsules for drinks you might not otherwise have the patience, desire or knowledge on how to make.2. Capsules are easy to insert and use… just make sure to have a glass already beneath the dispenser since some of the capsule liquid will most likely spill out a bit before the machine begins to make your beverage.3. Great customization options of alcohol dispensed ranging from a virgin “mocktail” to 2 ounces of alcohol “strong”.4. Machine reads the capsule barcode quickly, like instantly quick… MOST of the time. See CONS for an explanation.5. The glass containers are simple to fill with alcohol of your choice and insert into the machine. Just be sure to insert the lid on correctly otherwise you’ll have the same lack of dispensing experience I did with my first machine… part user error, part lack of clear instructions provided by Bartesian.6. Easy to remove and clean rubber spill tray.7. Small footprint and doesn’t require a lot of space.8. Metal handle to open and close the lid… although welcome, it seems a bit out of place with all of the plastic the machine is made out of. I would love to see all metal “Pro” units become available with future generations.9. Easy to use touchscreen with responsive interface.10. Drink capsules, although none included with the machine, come nicely packaged and protected in a box. See my CONS with the packaging below.CONS:1. Although capsule barcodes are mostly all scanned without error, there is on occasion a capsule that does not scan when the lid is closed. What typically occurs is that you insert the capsule and close the lid. Some liquid then drips since the capsule is now punctured. The machine does nothing since it doesn’t detect/scan the capsule. You open the lid and then close it again expecting it to scan. Nope… more liquid lost and no capsule detected. This can occur several times until the foil containing the barcode on the top of the capsule is flattened with your fingers and the machine is able to scan it. As a result, I’ve learned to run my finger over the barcode to make sure it’s flat and scannable by the machine. Since I’ve started doing this, I’ve averted any additional issues.2. Seemingly inexpensive, painted plastic that all too easily can scratch and buff given the high retail price.3. Some drinks require the rum glass canister to be installed versus the gin canister. Swapping these ALWAYS results in some spillage of liquid as you remove one canister from the base and insert another. If you take care while making the swap, you can easily minimize the mess.4. Unless you previously made a capsule or have some knowledge of what glassware should be used with each beverage, the machine will not tell you what to use until AFTER you have inserted a capsule and closed the lid. If you have not already placed a glass under the dispenser, you’ll have some of the capsule spill into the rubber spill tray once the lid is closed and capsule punctured. To be honest, it’s a waste of the capsule if you don’t have glassware already placed and just one more thing to have to clean as a build-up of spilled alcohol and capsule liquid will dry and become sticky on the rubber spill try.5. The touchscreen graphics are basic… I mean VERY basic. The graphics could have been programmed by a 6 year old on an iPad. Ok, the graphics would have looked better if they were programmed by a 6 year old on an iPad! I suppose Bartesian didn’t really need to make fancy graphics for their inaugural machine but for the cost of it and the day and age of technology I would have expected far more… maybe something like an animated pictured of the beverage being made along with it’s progress or a video even of the beverage. Instead, we have a simple progress bar that if you look hard enough, you can count the pixels used to create the graphic on the low cost screen!6. The machine is not smart enough on its own, without human interaction, to know if you have inserted the correct alcohol container into the correct position. The 4 slots on the base are as follows: Rum/Gin, Vodka, Tequila and Whisky. Depending on capsule inserted, the machine will pump liquid from the correct container. When a Rum or Gin based capsule is inserted, the machine prompts you to confirm if you have either the required Rum or Gin. This is a perfect opportunity for the lids to potentially house RFID sensors or some other tech for the machine to auto detect the proper container.7. The water container is integrated into the machine and not one of the glass containers. It’s a bit awkward that the water is filled in a gray painted plastic container and not a clear one, making it easier to view the water level. In future generations, I would like to see Bartesian replace the painted plastic for either a glass container or clear plastic one and potentially include a filter.8. Not a bartender and would like to know what alcohol will be mixed with each capsule? Don’t expect to find it on the packaging… anywhere! It would be a great addition to mention which of the 5 alcohols each capsule makes for those times you haven’t memorized each drink and have decided you’re in more of a vodka mood than a gin one. While we’re at it, go ahead and add the glassware type i.e. lowball, highball, etc. to the packaging since the machine is not going to tell you until it’s too late.I know I’m being picky here with these cons but hey… Bartesian has a great first generation machine and can do so much more to refine it! Once you learn the machine though, it’s a pleasure to use and a ton of fun especially given the growing variety of capsules becoming available.ORIGINAL REVIEW: 11/30/2019I was excited to receive the Bartesian to enjoy with my family during the holiday. I received the Bartesian well packaged and double boxed, perfectly protected from any potential damage. Since the Bartesian doesn’t include a sample pack of capsules, I ordered a couple of the variety packs from NiceShine to test the machine out. I unpacked the machine and everything was simple to assemble. To my surprise, the machine is made of all plastic, a disappointment for the price. It definitely looks to be made of a heavier material in the photos. The front of my machine also had a buff mark on the plastic not caused by packaging but probably due to manufacturing prior to being shipped. I would love to see future options become available to order the Bartesian in cast metal which would look much better in a residential bar setting and not a large hunk of gray plastic.Upon first testing the machine, I was disappointed with its performance, I won’t spend a lot of time blaming Bartesian for this since I finally determined I had assembled the glass liquor lids on backwards which was causing the liquor to not dispense when inserted into the machine. Sadly, the instruction manual does not very clearly depict the proper direction for inserting the glass bottle caps to ensure they dispense liquid. It took me so long to figure this out that I had actually already decided that I was going to return it due to being defective. Once I figured this out, the machine worked as it was designed and the drinks tasted fine.Speaking of the drinks, I ordered the Bartesian variety pack not once, twice or three times BUT four times from NiceShine and never received the correct package of capsules. I’ve since given up on trying to order these as it seems NiceShine is having a problem with correctly labeling the Bartesian capsules. If I could be guaranteed to receive the variety pack, I’d gladly update my review since I’d love to try the additional drinks offered.Swapping the glass bottles of liquor can prove to be a bit messy since some liquid WILL fall from the lids… this is especially true when exchanging the gin for the vodka depending on the type of drink you’re making. On the flip side, being able to select the brand of liquor you prefer in your drinks is a great advantage of this machine. You are in complete control of your liquor selection. All in all, this machine will be great for those that love the convenience and style of a K-cup coffee maker to dispense adult beverages, either for a party of one or a party of many more. I’d love to see the availability of drink cartridges expand as the pallet will likely grow tired of the many juice and sugar-ladened mixes.

This machine is pretty amazing. I’m kind of an alcohol connoisseur and love making drinks for myself and friends. Here lately my work load has increased at work and I’m coming home later and don’t really want to take the time to pick up mixers and fruit, especially since I can go weeks without making a cocktail with fresh squeezed juice. The fruit goes bad before I finish it. Therefore I have been sticking to my usual bourbon neat. This thing is a godsend. I tried the long island tea and at the regular strength it was perfect. My wife likes a lighter drink and I made her the sex on the beach. Perfect as well. If you’ve got the money for this thing and can afford the pods then it is the best way to go. If the thing starts screwing up I’ll update the review.Update Dec 2nd: I have now tried the margarita and old fashioned. OMG. The margarita wasn’t sickening sweet like the cheap mixers at the grocery store and while it wasn’t as tart as using fresh limes, it was still by far the best margarita I’ve tried outside of one I make and a bar. I’m going to order a six pack of just this. Now, for the old fashioned. The old fashioned is one of my favorite drinks. To be honest I was worried because it is easy to mess up the drink. Well I am so happy that it turned out to actually be better than my own. I can’t believe I’m saying that but damn. The only thing I did different from the package is add a luxardo cherry (2 to be exact and a half of spoon full of syrup). Perfect.Important note: chill your glass first by putting ice in it and let it sit until cold to the touch and sweating on the outside. (I’m in Wilmington NC so yours might not sweat). Then pour out the ice and melted water and put fresh ice in before you make the drink. The drink is cold but not watered down.

I love to have a cocktail once in awhile but hate the mess – and all the bottles of different mixers I need to have, etc. I loved the idea of this and decided to get one for the holidays. So far I have only tried two of the cocktail options but both were easy to do and tasked great. I really like that you can choose the strength of the drink! I only have 2 small complaints: 1 – It would be nice to include a small sampler set of the drink mixes with the machine. I was surprised to learn (my bad for not reading the description) that I had to order them separately. 2. On a related note, it is not possible to get most of the cocktail mix options through NiceShine. I am sure Bartesian wants to get my business directly but that is something I did not really understand until after I went looking for options.Despite those small issues, I am excited about the purchase and looking forward to sharing this with others. I hope that it holds up well – will be nice to swap out all the mixers, etc. on my shelves!

I saw this on NiceShine and thought it was brilliant! I looked for other options since this one is a bit pricey. It looks like the competition is going to be a machine that sells the alcohol in its packets rather than like this one where you use your own alcohol. The one that has the alcohol in its packets is not for sale in very many places (not where I live) so I opted for this one.My kids (adults) had a blast trying out all the different drinks. One loves the margaritas and another loves the uptown rocks! We still haven’t tried all the flavors yet! I must say it’s simple and quite useful! In the past I was always having to play “bartender” for everyone, and now, with just one punch of a button, everyone can have a variety of drinks!I loved this so much, I got one for my sister for Christmas!I hope that they continue to make more drink flavors (especially “skinny” drinks and keto drinks)! I’ll try them all!Highly recommend this machine!

I really like this machine.I enjoy entertaining and cooking and mixing drinks. With this it’s like having help. I show people how to use it and they help themselves. They even make me drinks.I also like it when it’s just the two of us at home. Or just me.For me it means no more stocking mix bottles, or pre-making mixes, no time-consuming making drinks and best of all NO MESS! And I no longer throw away a bunch of expired mixers. These expire too. You can refrigerate to double their life. But it’s all more manageable.Does it makes sense for you financially? You need to figure that out. But it’s like having a bartender at home. The mixes are *not* overly sweet and they are tasty and in varying degrees of flavors.Calories (without liquor Of course) range from 10 (old fashioned) to margarita (60) . Listings in their website.I load my Bartesian with my favorite liquor brands. To start with you have to pick which 5 liquor brands to use: Vodka, Rum, Gin, Whiskey and Tequila. The jars are a decent size. WARNING: test the “duck” valves when you are rinsing and prepping before loading the liquor. It’s in the manual people.Thirsty? Choose a drink.Pop in a cartridge. Get a glass(Keep a metal one handy as 1-2 of the drinks (Cosmo) suggest you shake it. All others so far just a glass w ice.Select strength from Virgin, Light, Regular and Strong. Liquor dispensed varies from cocktail to cocktail. Strong could be from 2 oz to 3.4 oz — maybe even more.Varies according to recipe.Tastes varies from people to people so no sense in me going into too many details.Cocktails I HAVE NOT tried to date:- Paper Plane- Mint JulepCocktails I’ve tried more or less in like order:- Old Fashioned- Whiskey Sour (non whipped variety)- Uptown Rocks (I add a sprig of cilantro)- Rum Breeze- Sex on the Beach ( I use tall glasses lots of ice)- Margarita- Gimlet-Sazerac (tastes like it has a hint of oregano?)- Cosmos- Long Island Tea- Negroni (a gin cocktail)- Spiced Coffee- Martini (Note: like dirty vodka martinis myself but the cartridge here so far is Gin Martini). Yes, you could swap the gin reservoir with the vodka one. I will need to experiment but not my favorite so far. Too busy trying the others.I really really like many of the Bartesian cocktails. They have done their homework. i tried Spiced Coffee once and I wasn’t thrilled but I’m thinking of adding a splash of cream or even Irish cream. Next time.I keep ice handy for drinks.I’ve also added to the top shelf of my fridge door little jars of olives, little onions, maraschino cherries, etc Anything I thought of as garnish and in the vegetable bin I keep handy mint, cilantro, limes and lemons. It’s my way to tweak it. Depends on my mood or occasion. By throwing in a couple of garnishes I feel like I’m kicking it up a notch.Tips:- I also pour cold water into the machine. Sometimes even drop some ice on the reservoir. But it’s not needed.- I remove the spent cartridge right after I make the drink. My Bartesian machine is next to a cappuccino machine and I chuck them in the tap container for the used coffee.- I leave the cover open after I make drinks-I tap on “sleep” when I think of it (otherwise it’ll shut off eventually I think)- Occasionally I remove the bar mat and rinse it.- In a month or three I’m planning on flushing it out (there’s a both a first time cycle and a flush cycle).- I’ve taken off the cartridge cup holder once to rinse it.This “maintenance” to me is all small stuff. Less than what I do with the coffee machines. I want to make it easy on my Robotic bartender so he can stick around for a long time to come.Reception? To date, I haven’t found anyone yet that has NOT liked it. Some admit candidly “I didn’t think I was going to like it this much”.Durability? The most activity to date was a 32 drink gathering. Let’s see when the summer entertaining season comes.Yes, it’s plastic but I’m guessing if it was metal it’ll cost a lot more. Someone will make a different model once.My wishes / REQUESTS:- MORE cocktails please! One can never have enough choices!!! – How about dirty vodka martinis!?- And of course: LOWER the price of the cartridges!!! Guessing/hoping that will happen sooner or later. Yes Bartesian is starting “subscriptions” but I rather you gave me bulk discounts. How about it Bartesian!?Shop around for the machine. Sometimes I see discounts. I bought mine right here in NiceShine and most if the drinks in Bartesian website. The machines are in a growing number of places. Like Bed Bath and Beyond for example had it at a great price if you are a Beyond member. Hope this doesn’t ban me from NiceShine reviews v

I have been debating for months on whether or not to get the bartesian cocktail machine. After doing a lot of research, I decided to bite the bullet and purchase it. One of the best purchase I made. The machine was easy to use. I thought the spirit containers were going to be plastic but it is made out of glass. I bought one of each cocktail mix to see which ones I should buy more of in the future. I only tried the whisky sour so far. It was really good. I selected regular for the alcohol strength and the flavor did not disappoint. I had 2 of these. My wife elected to try the cosmopolitan. She gave it a thumbs up. We will try the other cocktail mixes later this weekend for super bowl to determine which flavors best fits our taste. Highly recommend it if you are on the fence. This product is pretty awesome so far. Remember, this does not come with the cocktail capsules so you will have to order it as well. NiceShine have a good amount of the cocktail capsules but I had to order through the company’s website to purchase the other ones which takes a few days to arrive. Cheers!

By now, you know the drill…I start by saying this is my first review on NiceShine…but it’s true. 23 years after my first NiceShine purchase (a Jefferson Airplane CD) the Bartesian inspired me to write my first review. And who doesn’t want somebody to love?Simple setup, brilliant design and handsome looking on your counter. The Bartesian is clearly well thought out…a clear and intuitive screen for each simple step (“did you remember to put the rum canister in? Gosh, I did…thanks Bartesian!”), great tasting mixer pods, many choices and more being added, liquor canisters that insert without leaking, a self cleaning function after each drink to avoid unwanted cross contamination and incredibly fast. Some really nice added touches like the ability to select your drink strength (nice!), mocktails for the drivers in the crowd, glass canisters (not plastic as is so often the case), designations on the canister lids for the specific liquor in case you store them and can’t remember what’s in each of them a month later. In the end, the Bartesian takes something that is really important but usually a bit messy, time consuming, requires a recipe, needs a bunch of mixers you don’t have on hand and is always done inconsistently….and makes it all so simple and fast with the push of a button. This is what tech is for my friends…so grab a cocktail from your very special new friend, the Bartesian, put on some Airplane and relax!

I love cocktails but never have the right ingredients on hand or I’m too lazy to make them. This takes care of both issues. I chose this over the Keurig version because I can select the spirits myself and change them up. Some of the drinks are amazing but there are a few that I need to add something additional to in order to drink them. Find and join a FB Bartestian group for the best tips and tricks. I only have 2 minor complaints: I wish the unit held all 5 spirits at once rather than having to swap out the gin and rum. I also wish some of the drinks were larger. I bet a future Bartesian model 2.0 will address both of those issues. That said, this is the best thing I’ve bought for myself in years. I felt like a kid on Christmas when it finally arrived. Due to the pandemic, we didn’t go on vacation this year, but sipping a Bartesian rum cocktail out on my patio has helped.

This is a great little toy, albeit like all grown up toys, is pricey for what it does. It is like a pod coffee makers but for Cocktails! You purchase pods for cocktails, the machine adds flat water to the concentrated fruit and mixer flavors, and it adds your choice of alcohol in the brand and strength that you choose. The clear bottles are placed in the correct receptacle, and the machine “reads” the bars scan code and adds the alcohol to your cocktail. The flavor pods are delicious; you get 6 for $15 and don’t have to have the lime juice, coconut juice, orange or bitters, etc on hand. They are all in the pod. Bartesian Customer Service is also phenomenal. We love it. There is only one drawback: It only provides flat drinks. No fizzy or soda water because this machine does not have a CO2 cartridge. But with so many varieties to choose from, we have not missed the fizz. Drinkworks makes a cocktail machine which has the CO2 cartridges but the drink pods contain the alcohol, so they cannot be shipped to all states. The CO2 cartridges are also a problem for shipping into some states. But most of all: The Vodka is not Gray Goose and the Tequilla is not Patron like at our house! Also, you cannot do a “mocktail” with Drinkworks cocktail maker… nor can you control the amount of alcohol from Drinkworks. Bartesian also has a rinse setting which flushes out the serving channels. So we are delighted with our Bartesian and know that we have made the right choice! BTW, if you open an NiceShine credit account, you will save a lot on the price. For future purchases, be sure you specify your preferred payment, or NiceShine credit will be your default payment.

I love the convenience of having the Bartesian and it definitely will come in handy once I can host again. The one main issue I take with the machine is that you have no option to select a straight shot of any of the liquors in the glass reservoirs. It can only read the barcode on the pods and that’s it. I do hope that there is an adjustment for this option, seeing that each glass reservoir takes an entire 750mL bottle of liquor, and the machine itself takes up quite a bit of room. Due to those two factors I just mentioned, it doesn’t seem entirely ideal to keep an additional bottle of liquor just for straight shots, especially when one is tight for space as it is.A minor complaint is that the margarita mix is too sour. A switch from Hornitos to Jose Cuervo or Espolon paired base mix would solve the issue. Margaritas are my absolute go to, and I always end up having to doctor them up after making.I hope to see more flavors in the future. All in all I definitely recommend the machine once the option for straight shot pours are made.

Bartesian is such a great product especially when it was on sale for $80 off. I wouldn’t have bought it otherwise ($280 total) since its a steep purchase. If you go out for drinks a lot this will definitely help you out in the long run. Especially when drinks are $15-$20 per drink when each package has 6 pods for about $15 each. Sadly it only comes with the machine and no starter packages.I used a low ball glass in the picture and an iceball so my drinks won’t get melted faster. Perfect precision in the amount as pictured. I also used a cocktail shaker since even though its dispensed right on top, the taste was still off. The “normal” level fits well for me to get both the taste and alcohol otherwise the “strong” is actually too strong of a taste for me.My first try though the machine was leaking so I placed a hand towel there in case. Turns out I was inserting the pods wrong. I just use a baby wipe after each time to wipe up any small residual drops inside and around the outside spout.I will update my drink choices as I try out more over time. Some of my favorite drinks:Sex on the beach, rum punchOkay drinks:MargaritaBad drinks:Mint julep (has too much agave syrup taste and not enough mint)

i decided on this over the keurig model, and i am glad i made that choice. having had drinks from both, the drinks that this model produces are far superior to the keurigthere are a few things i think that bartesian could improve on1) when you put a pod in, and press the lid down, you get some spillage from the nozzle. it’s fine if you remember to put the cup there first, but if you need to wait until the bartesian tells you what type of cup to use, it will make a small mess2) when swapping the gin and run, you can expect a small amount of spillage during this maneuver too. I know it is difficult to avoid that type of thing, but it is a slight bit annoying3) i think the top handle is a little flimsy, but it hasn’t broken so that’s fineoverall this machine handily beats the keurig in terms of drink quality, and probably drink selection too, the only nod i would give the keurig is that they have a few drink options that the bartsian will likely not have due to the lack of CO2 option for the bartesian. the keurig is definitely a little better engineered, but in terms of drink taste it is bartesian all the way

The Bartesian was well packaged, easy to set up, easy to clean. So far I tried the Margarita, Cosmopolitan, Sex on the Beach, Long Island Iced Tea, Rum Breeze, Whiskey Sour, and Lemon Drop. ALL tasted great. This product is such a great idea and well executed. I like that I can use the brands of alcohol that I enjoy and that I can select what strength to make my drink. I had a little scare. I thought it stopped working but all it was, the bar code reader was dirty. Once I cleaned it, all was good. Looking forward to new flavors like Mango Margarita and Rum Runner.Makes a great gift for that special someone, or for yourself. Cheers!Update 05/21/2020I’ve had the Bartesian over a month now. Maybe this wasn’t such a good purchase after all. I mean, before getting the machine I had a cocktail once in a long while. Now? I think I’m having them all too often. I’ve tried more cocktail capsules like the Whiskey Smash (good), Mai Tai (make it on stronger or too sweet), Rum Runner (wife likes it), but my new favorite would be the Mango Margarita. Really tasty on strong setting. Well, time for a cocktail. It’s 5PM somewhere!

I truly love this machine for making drinks. The ability to use my own favorite brands of liquor makes this the best. The majority of cocktail pods are fantastic and make better drinks than what you get in 90% of restaurants and bars. There is ONE FATAL FLAW with it that I discovered while trying the martini. First, the martini cocktail pod is ly least favorite. I like a dry dirty martini and you just cant make a good one with this much cocktail mix being added. The martini did expose one major design flaw with the Bartesian machine itself. The machine uses the same input for both the rum and gin. This is a mistake because even after running the switch mode to swap out the gin for the rum it still will have a small amount of rum in the line. Since rum is so distinctive and sweet you will totally end up tasting it in the martini… not good. If you are using a dark rum it is even worse and a little but ends up getting pulled up into the gin bottle completely tainting it. The only way to use gin without getting any rum is to completely clean the machine as for storage and then reinstall. In my opinion they should have made the vodka and gin use the same port as there would be little if any noticeable trace if either got slightly mixed. So in the end I have just stuck to making rum drinks and not hassling with any gin drinks. If you are not into rum drinks, but prefer gin cocktails then you could just do the reverse and only use the gin. Either works great, but trying to swap between the two is a mistake.

I purposely wait until we had used the machine for at least 11 months before writing a review. So far the machine has performed marvelously. We have had no issues with the controls or operations of the machine. We have enjoyed a wide variety of cocktails during the year and they have been wonderfully made. We have really enjoyed trying many of the new cocktails from Bartesian. We use filtered water that comes from our water purification system in our Bartesian. This reduces mineral build up and eliminates the chemicals taste that comes from many municipal water treatment systems. Clean water ensures that the taste of your cocktail is consistent each time you use the machine. We have been doing this for our Keurig machines as well.I have performed two cleaning cycles since we have own the machine. It is very easy since the machine has a clean cycle in the menu. I would suggest that you consider using a “very mild” coffee cleaning compound for the water well in the machine. Since we have several Keurig machines, we had the cleaning solution handy. Using a cleaning solution will remove any bacterial build up and will ensure adequate flow is occurring from the water well. Like make coffee machines, the water in the Bartesian sits stagnant, so over time you will need to clean the water well from any bacteria build up. Follow the time schedule recommendations in the manual for cleaning your Bartesian machine.Very Important:Do not use any cleaning solution in the glass alcohol wells. These wells have rubber gaskets and spring pressure valves that may not react well to the solution. Use just water for cleaning the glass alcohol wells. When performing general everyday maintenance, clean the puncher cup in which the pods are placed in as well as the rubber mat before or after each usage. This ensures that your cocktail taste is consistent and this prevent bacteria build up on these parts. We use a countertop ice machine with our Bartesian. I read that having fresh ice for your cocktail ensures a good tasting cocktail every time. Using ice from a refrigerator ice machine is adequate but if the ice sits for any time in the icebox of the refrigerator, the taste of the ice can change. This will affect your cocktail. Each time we want a cocktail, we add water to the countertop ice machine to make fresh ice. When it is not used, we drain the water and follow maintenance for countertop ice machine. This may seem “overkill” but if you ever had a cocktail in a a good bar, they always use freshly made ice. You might want to do the same in your home.Tip 1:We use 8oz cocktail glasses in our Bartesian but we found that the height of the dispenser from the glass created splatters on some occasions. We solved this by getting a “cocktail glass riser”. There is one that is made for Keurig machines and it worked well in reducing splatters from the dispenser.Tip 2:The “Long Island Iced Tea” cocktail pod uses 3 alcohols to mix the drink. When including ice will make this cocktail right at 10 ounces. We use tall 11oz cocktail glasses for this drink to prevent run over. This also applies to any cocktail in which you choose “As a Double” or “Strong”. The Bartesian can make ‘singles’ and ‘doubles’ of every cocktail and some cocktails when made ‘double’ will exceed 8 ounces so you will need a tall cocktail glass.Summary:We have really enjoyed the machine and the cocktails it has made. I hope you find this review helpful.

We really enjoy hosting parties. A co-worker of mine mentioned that he attended a party where the host had a “Bartesian” and that it was a huge hit. He got me really interested in it, so we purchased one. Wow! This is one of the most amazing products we have purchased. The ease of use, stylish nature, and uniqueness are all tops! The only three critiques I have: 1.) when a pod is inserted and the top is shut, the puncturing process is not always perfect. We have had several pods only partially drained of its contents. 2.) some of the four drain holes become clogged quickly, resulting in sprays of alcohol/mixing material. You really need to wipe it down the pod bowl after each use to ensure it is completely clean. 3.) the programming has frozen a couple of times. The only solution I found effective was unplugging it and plugging it back in.Despite the above mentioned issues, this product is a huge winner.

I have spent a small fortune, but I was determined to find the best of the best. Here is a breakdown of my favorite drinks pods (for reference my favorite non-Bartesian drinks are: Long Island, Whiskey Sour, Rum Punch, Margarita).FYI – Some of these drinks are not yet available on NiceShine, but can be purchased on Bartesians’s website (Price is the same as NiceShine, but shipping is not as fast as NiceShine Prime – takes between 5- 7 days).UPDATE November 2021 – Holiday Collection 2021Bartesian hit it out of the park with this one (much better than last year). From best to least…Mistletoe Margarita – this is Christmas in a cup. It tastes like cranberry with hints of spice – nutmeg and cinnamon. It tastes more like a delicious spiced wine than a marg, but I’m not mad about that. This is what the rhubarb spiced shrub SHOULD taste like. Needs to be a year-round drink. Made on strong..always.Yuletide Hurricane – Also needs to be a year round drink. It tastes like topical Hawaiian punch (for adults). Lots of orange flavor – if you don’t like orange or citrus then this is not the drink for you. It has edible glitter which makes this drink visually beautiful. VERY SWEET – made on strong always to balance the sweet. Love!Espresso martini – I’m surprised I like this as much as I do, even more than the spiced coffee. It tastes like the best coffee you’ve ever had – with hints of vanilla. This is made with vodka, rather than tequila like the spiced coffee. It’s absolutely delicious. I would not order this on the reg, but it’s a perfect seasonal drink (like egg nog).Spiced Old Fashioned – this was in last years collection – disappointed it was included. It’s not bad, but you really have to like drinks that are basically just whiskey. Like last year, I add a good bit of apple cider, which makes it taste similar to the apple pie, so I don’t waste the pods. Wouldn’t want it again, but it’s in the collection again..whomp whomp.UPDATE October 2021: Blackberry Margarita: Delicious! This margarita tastes like you muddled fresh blackberries for the drink. It’s not overly sweet (not as sweet as the passion fruit), but fruity and refreshing. I like this one on regular. I tried on strong and it wasn’t sweet enough.Apple Pie: I love that Bartesian made this a year round drink instead of seasonal. This drink is incredibly balanced and not overly sweet like most apple-cider type cocktails. It’s perfectly sweet, with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg and touch of lemon. I use Wordford Reserve Whiskey which compliments the drink nicely with hints of orange. Delish!UPDATE August 2021:Passion Fruit Margarita: Another great drink from Bart – very similar to the Mango, but I actually like the Passion Fruit even more. The Passion Fruit has a more complex flavor – sweet, tart and tangy, while the Mango is mostly sweet notes, but has more hints of a classic lime margarita. I prefer this one on strong (way too sweet on regular). Already reordered the 32 pod count – it goes fast!UPDATE: May 2021 Releases:Rum Runner: The vodka seems unnecessary in this drink – even on the light it’s too overpowering. I make it on ‘mocktail’ and then add coconut rum myself to make it edible. Defeats the purpose of the machine, but it’s the only way this drink doesn’t take like medicine. This drink was a hug disappointment for me, and I will not be purchasing again.Mango Margarita – the mango is a bit overpowering, so I like this one on strong and wow is it good. You still get hints of a classic margarita taste from the lime, but be prepared to give Bartesian all of your money because this is delicious! Medium drink output and I’ve already put in an order for 32 pods because this one goes fast!UPDATE: February 2021 Releases:Amaretto Sour – Sweet, and delicious but emphasis on the SWEET (and where’s the sour??). If you love Disaronno (or amaretto), then you will love this drink, but the level of sweetness is not for everyone. I wish it was a bit more balanced like the Whiskey Sour. I use Woodford reserve whiskey instead of vodka and add a big squeeze of fresh lime juice and its still insanely sweet. I would likely not order again.Screwdriver – Very sour. I wish this one was a bit more balanced as well, and had a tad but more sweetness. Go grab some OJ and make this yourself, but it is nice to have on hand for guests. I would not buy again.UPDATE: Holiday 2020 Collection. I was looking forward to new flavors (the Apple Pie is incredible), but disappointed to see the rest of the collection is basically recycled drinks that I don’t really care for.Apple Pie – This a showstopper and Bartesian needs to sell this pod individually and all year round. This drink is incredibly balanced and not overly sweet like most apple-cider type cocktails. It’s perfectly sweet, with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg and touch of lemon. I use Wordford Reserve Whiskey which compliments the drink nicely with hints of orange. Delish!Spiced Old Fashioned – I like the spices in this beverage, but I find Old Fashions to be too strong. I added apple cider and lots of ice, and it actually made this taste similar to the Apple Pie cocktail. Winning!!Clausmopolitain – A regular cosmo with glitter. Yawn…. (but the color is stunning!)Spiced Coffee – Disappointed this was in the collection instead of bringing something new to table. I do not like the Spiced Coffee, so I saved them for a friend that likes this drink with a splash of Bailey’sUPDATE Oct 2020: Witch’s Heart – Great for Halloween, but I will be drinking all year round. Such a delicious and complex tasting drink. You get sweetness from the white grape and berries, and a bit of tart from the apple and lemon. I’ve never had edible glitter before, but it makes this drink magical. You’re friends will be impressed. Only negative there is an odd ‘cough-syrupy’ after taste. It doesn’t bother me, but this drink is not for everyone. It makes a small drink output.UPDATE: July 2020 New Releases1. Mai Thai – “Bermuda, Jamaica, Ooooo I wanna take ya…”. Tropical, pineapp-ly, coconut and almond goodness. This tastes exactly like a drink you would get at the beach. Delicious and my absolute favorite of the new releases but the drink output is absolutely pitiful – a few sips and it’s gone. You would need to make 2-3 pods for a full drink.2. Ginger Peach Iced Tea – Summery and refreshing. I do find the ginger to be a bit overpowering, so I add a dash of Peach Schnapps to provide more of that peach flavor I’m looking for. This is a substantial drink! It fills my 16 ounce glass on regular. This drink sneaks up on you since you can’t taste the alcohol.3. Lemon Drop – Taste exactly like the first legal drink you had on your 21st birthday. Super sweet and tart, so I prefer to make this as a shot. The strong setting makes 4-5 shots. A real crowd pleaser – ‘Who wants a lemon drop?’…and the crowd goes wild!3. Aviation – Tastes like pomegranate and maraschino cherries. The drink is a gorgeous purple color – you would think that doesn’t matter but the color is mesmerizing. I switch bottles and use vodka because I am not a fan of gin. Produces a small – medium drink output.4. Northside – A surprising favorite. Lemon and lime flavored drink without being overly sweet. Super refreshing summer vodka drink. Produces a small – medium drink output.5. Rhubarb Spice Shrub – Overpowering vinegary taste. At first, this drink reminded me of a delicious spiced wine I have during the holidays with such a great depth of flavor. The aftertaste is straight vinegar…why?! This drink was definitely designed by a hipster. $14 in the trash for what could have been an amazing cocktail.UPDATE: After a few family gatherings, the unanimous favorites are Rum Breeze, Sex on the Beach, Margarita, Long Island, and Whiskey Sour.1.) Rum Breeze – My absolute favorite!! Fruity, refreshing, but dangerous. It doesn’t taste ‘strong’ (even on the strong setting), but this sure does sneak up on you!). This drink has a strong coconut flavor, with hints of strawberry. I go through these pods like water. YUM!! This pod makes a substantial drink.2.) Sex on the Beach- Another fruity but dangerous favorite. I primarily taste cranberry, peach and pineapple in this one. This pod makes a substantial drink.3.) Whiskey Sour – Delicious but strong. Perfect on the regular setting. Hints of sours and vanilla. Tiny drink output – a few sips and it’s gone (may be for the best since this is a strong drink).4.) Long Island – My favorite bar drink, but not my favorite Bartesian drink (I think because it doesn’t have enough ‘cola’ flavor for me), but it’s still delicious. Regular setting is PLENTY strong with this one. Makes a small-medium drink – need 2 pods for a full glass.5.) Margarita – This drink is perfect. Not overly sweet or generic tasting like alot of the grocery store mixers. Decent drink output.6.) Cosmopolotan – Lime and Cranberry flavors. A bit tart for me, but pretty good. Decent drink output.7.) Paper plane – It reminds me of a whiskey sour I had at a restaurant. Tastes of citrus, sour, herbal and bitter. Unusual but pretty good. It’s like a sour patch kid for adults. This drink is not for everyone. All of my guest have said it tastes like medicine, but I like it (but the herbal notes can be a bit overpowering). Decent drink output.8.) Uptown Rocks – Strong Peach taste – good, but I wish there were other prominent flavors. I actually prefer this with vodka than gin (I just switch the bottles). Makes a decent sized drink.9.) Old Fashioned – All I can taste is whiskey, but a hint of citrus does make it smoother. Not my favorite, but I’m not a fan of this drink anyway. Makes a tiny drink, but sounds about right for this one.10.) Spiced Coffee- Pretty good. Hints of spice – cinnamon and nutmeg. I would have to be in the mood for this one because I’m not a fan of spiked coffee. I would not buy again. Although a friend of mine loves it with a splash of Bailey’s. Makes a decent size drink.11.) Sazerac – This drink is slightly sweet and has subtle hints of licorice. All I could taste is whiskey when I made this drink using a regular strength. The flavor comes thorough much better on light, but I’m just not a fan of this one. Small drink output.12.) Mint Julip – Tastes like toothpaste. If you’re a fan of mint, or Mojito-like drinks then this one is for you. Decent drink output, but threw it away.13.) Negroni – And finally, my least favorite pod, and one I will definitely never buy again, the Negroni! This drink has a strong herbal flavor. I don’t know how it’s possible, but it tastes like eating a pine tree. Also very bitter. Definitely not for me. Small drink output, but it’s for the best – nasty!

UPDATE – Added one star – see the end for the update.Real review from real owner. I’ve had this for six months and use it a lot.Background/Overview:I purchased this because their competitor (Drinkworks) went out of business. The Drinkworks pods were not very tasty but the machine looked like a $350 machine should look. When I received my Bart, I was disappointed because this looks like the abused brother of the Drinkworks. It’s just doesn’t feel as “quality” as the Drinkworks did. Bart’s pods are tasty for the most part, but the machine has issues as I’ll share below. They have partnered with B&D for a new machine, so you might want to wait a month or two until that comes out and check its reviews.Pros:1) The pods are the main pro here (well, next to the accessories as I’ll share in a second.)2) Pod subscription can really save you $$$.3) If you have a pod subscription, then other items (glasses, rimmers, etc.) are 50% off.4) You get to choose your own alcohol. Don’t have to have cheap nasty liquor unless you want it!5) They specialize in their extras. Glassworks, menu, rimmers, etc. are all top notch. GREAT pro.6) Packaging for shipping of Pods is heavy duty*7) Customer service*Cons1) The whiskey leaks on many machines. Check FB on this, many, many, many people (including myself) have had to clean up whiskey because of it leaking while sitting in the machine. I’ve read lots of reports of this, but haven’t witnessed Bartesian staff address this issue, ever.2) Some pods (hurricane for instance) leak leak leak all over the place about 50% of the time. It’s like flipping a coin if there will be a mess or not. Sometimes when I put them in the machine, the drink begins spraying on my counter, other times is works as it should. Again, reported on their official FB page, but I haven’t seen any response from Bartesian staff about this.3) Feels cheap to me. Where you push down to puncture the pod, the machine just feels cheap, like I might break it. If you push down too softly, more pods leaks. I just feel like it is going to break one day. Drinkworks had this part 100% perfect.4) Packaging for Pods – I noted above in the “Pros” area that the pod packages are heavy duty, and they are – but they still arrive broken open sometimes. I have heard from the FB group that if a certain number are broken open, customer service will refund, but I don’t know the magic number of broken pods needed to qualify.5) Customer Service – I noted it above in “Pros” area about customer service. Well, it’s really hit and miss. I mentioned something on FB about my original shipment getting squashed and they refunded me my entire order – that’s an A+. They did the work on it. They found my Bartesian account through my FB account and contacted me via messenger. That’s how customer support should be for an item at this price point. However, just the other day an almost invisible washer disappeared from my water bin. No idea how it came out, and it shouldn’t on this new of a product. But it did and my Bart because useless without it. So I contacted “Customer Support” and was sent a generic link from their website. I guess I was supposed to figure out what I needed myself and then buy it? I didn’t see any washers there, just the option to purchase an entire brand new water bin. Seriously? For a silicon washer that shouldn’t have fallen out in the first place? I paid $350 for this item, $1,200 in pods through their website and then just sent a link to figure out I needed to spend $20 because of a silicon washer? A good company with good support would have simply grabbed one of the 2 cent washers, dropped it in an envelope, then sent me an email saying it was on its way. Terrible customer service – sometimes. Luckily, someone on the FB group gave me a suggestion for fixing it – since we can’t use the whiskey port anyway (because of leaks), take the washer from there! So, overall, it’s a great product in theory. I’ve wasted pods from them spraying all over – without any indication Bart is fixing that. I’ve had to clean “pod juice” off of other pods because they arrive broken. I’ve had to go hunting throughout my house looking for a small silicon washer because one fell off which shouldn’t.We love the drinks, but not the machine and (sometimes) not the company so much. But what they do with their accessories, especially their glasswork! Those are all beautiful and packed so so so well! Why isn’t that person in charge of their customer service is beyond me! Top notched accessories, but mediocre service and engineering.I’ve attached a video so you can see how easy it is to use and, luckily, it didn’t shoot out all over the place this time!Bart is easy to use and we do love it, don’t get me wrong.Update: I was contacted by Bartesian because of my review. I had told them I just wanted the silicon washer, and they said they would send one, but they sent the entire water container. I’ll be honest, it actually bothered me that they did. I almost felt like they did it just to get me off their case. But, if I was to give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they did it to just give good customer service. I’m not sure, but I added a star back because they finally did do something. I wish they could have sent the washer (not the whole container) when I first contacted them. They stated in the email and they state on their FB page that they are a small company. I get that and respect that. I just wish they would sink a little more expertise into customer service and I’m pretty sure they would see a payback.Still keeping one star off for the engineering issues this machine has which have never been addressed by Bartesian in any form which I’ve read. Again, goes to customer service. But hey, that’s their choice!I hope this helps!

TLDR: Great idea, but not implemented well.At this point, I have been using the Bartesian for a full year. While I do enjoy my device, I cannot recommend it to family and friends without letting them know the caveats. If you are reading this review, you likely already understand what this product is. With that, I won’t describe the function of the product but focus on my year with the device. For starters, this is my “second” Bartesian. The first one was RMA’d. The first one I had would leak, and then it would leak thought he device and pool underneath. It stained my granite countertop. The replacement has not leaked in that manner so far, but I still keep paper towels under the device.Leaking. Let’s talk about the bottles. The bottles consist of three pieces. The glass, the dispenser part and then the cover. Two of the 3 are made out of plastic. Why this is significant is that screwing a plastic top to a bottle isn’t going to create a tight seal. The plastic isn’t going to hold onto the glass to maintain the seal over time. When people want to make preserves, they use metal caps for their jars. This means depending on how quickly you go through alcohol, you run the risk of the jars leaking “at some point”. The instructions mention that the device should be taken apart and cleaned once a month. If you are a casual drinker, you likely will not consume all of your loaded alcohol once a month. This doesn’t mean you have to poor it out, but it’s a bit more challenging to clean everything while saving your unused alcohol (unless you keep extra empty bottles around). Now, do you need to disassemble and clean the device once a month? At some point, those jars are going to leak since the caps parts that screw onto the jar are not metal. They will leak and start pooling in the area where bottles are inserted into base. It varies as to when they start leaking, but they will start leaking at some point. If you entertain a lot, this will not be an issue as your guests will love the device and will run it out of alcohol quicker than you can keep it filled. If you are a casual drinker, this will be a bit of a pain. The water container is another concern. The design of the container does not create ease of cleaning. You will need to get creative with different kitchen cleaning devices to get the bottom ridges and areas clean and that’s just all unnecessary. They could have smoothed our the inside of the water container to aid cleaning. The pod area. The pods work like a Keurig machine, where it punches a whole into it. It also reads a bar code on top of the pod to know how to mix it. Water can splash in the pod area and make it so the reader cannot read the bar code. This will especially happen when you do a cleaning cycle so you need to also manually wipe the bar code reader area. The way the pods are punctured is not consistent. Sometimes the puncture will have the drink spitting out like a fountain all over the place. This has nothing to do with the device being cleaned (as suggested in the manual). Because of these, regardless of the glass suggestion for the drink, I always use a tall glass to minimize potential randomness of when the pod is not punctured the expected way.The ability to use your own alcohol, the ability to select the drink strength, and the ability to have a variety of drinks on hand using various spirits is a great concept. However, the first iteration of the device needs some re-thinking. I would suggest those looking at the device to wait and see if there is a V2, or just make sure you understand about the potential pitfalls. Some areas of improvement:* Look at using a different material than plastic for the outer part of the bottle top. Something that will grip and hold to glass. I shouldn’t have to disassemble the bottles just because they are leaking.* Look at smoothing out the bottom of the water container for better cleaning* Look at creating an “ice trap” at the bottom of the water container. i.e. trap the ice at the bottom so as water is sucked out for a drink, it must pass through the ice. Putting ice in the water now, it just floats to the top.* Make the pod puncture mechanism more predictable.

I’ve been wanting to purchase the Bartesian for a little while. NiceShine had it on Prime Days for $295.99 so I jumped at the opportunity to purchase. Went to Bartesians website to order the capsules as I wanted more variety than what was offered on NiceShine. This is hands down one of the best purchases that I’ve made all year. It’s very easy to operate and makes great cocktails in seconds. I love that I have the ability to choose the strength of alcohol and I love how it directs you through the cocktail making process down to what type of glass to use.I have been giving rave reviews to all of my friends and encouraging them to purchase as well as we all can appreciate cocktails.I feel like I have my very own bartender sitting right on my counter.

This is our second bartesian. We never had any issues with our first one but our second one has stopped working after 3 months. I’m trying to figure out how to get a replacement because we spent waaaaay too much money on capsules and the machine itself to just go buy another not knowing if the same problem will arise. The issue: whenever you place a new capsule in, the screen never goes to what strength you would like. It just stays on the screen that says “put the capsule in and close the lid” something like that. So I end up puncturing a capsule and the Bartesian just drains the capsule into the glass and doesn’t actually mix it with the liquor. Right before writing this review I wasted 6 capsules of the Candyman margarita. I’m pissed! So if anyone knows anyway to get a replacement please let me know. Great machine but you just gotta pray you don’t get a faulty one.

I got this thinking it would be a fun holiday sort of “novelty”. All in all it’s turned out to be better than I expected! We’ve tried it out now a couple times and it’s not only fun, but the cocktails have been good. I was skeptical but I am pleased with them. When switching pods, I’ve been going to the settings and pushing “first use” just to rinse. Each cocktail pod finishes with a little water-so that sort of provides a bit of a rinse-but I find that the bourbon smell lingers. So I give it a little “rinse” if switching up drinks. The directions don’t say to do that-it’s just my own tweak. You can always tweak the cocktails a bit if needed-add some fresh lime juice to the margarita, add a touch of simple syrup to the lemon drop, cherries to the old fashion-you get it. Easy to use. Not sure if we will use it daily after the holidays (we might store it and bring it out when friends come). But for now we are having some fun with it.

Love this product. Making cocktails at home is super easy and you don’t need to stock a home bar. Making the pods lets you choose Mocktail, Light, Regular or Heavy alcohol. The one downside is that you have to decant the bottles into a container for the machine, and the machine only holds 4 containers but uses 5 alcohols (I’ve left Gin out but it comes with an extra bottle to swap them out as needed). So far we’ve enjoyed all the cocktails we’ve had. Old fashioned and hurricanes are my favorite. The Lemon Drop and Apple Pie make a great mocktail. The Margaritas (regular, blackberry, passion fruit, mango, etc) are all good too.

I bought the Bartesian on a whim about a month ago. I will say it’s expensive to get into – what with the machine itself, buying 4 bottles of booze, and all the caps – it’s not cheap. Generally I’m happy with it. The only issue I’ve had is that my liquor bottles can leak from time to time. My vodka bottle has leaked twice now, and the whiskey bottle once. By leak I mean the booze seems to seep out of the holder, flood the area where the bottle goes in, and leaks out onto the top of the machine. These aren’t massive leaks – maybe 2 or 3oz total each time – more annoying then anything else. I’m hoping this stops once the machine gets used more and the rubber seals in the bottle tops soften up. The drinks are strong – regular strength with most caps is 2oz! That can be a lot for a low ball considering there isn’t much mix in the caps. To me ‘strong’ setting tastes like pure booze. The flavors/quality of the caps vary – some are quite delicious and refreshing while others do taste a little ‘fake’ or like a standard bottled mixer would taste. I’d give the machine overall about a 7/10 – it’s a lot of fun – would be great fun for a party or large group! Not sure it’s worth the money and effort for a small household that isn’t using it frequently.

This machine is AWESOME!!!!!! TO all you cocktail lovers, this machine will bring value to your home!!!! I’ve been watching tipsy bartender at home and trying so many different drink mixes but I’ve found out that this machine is much cheaper than keeping a fully stocked bar! The alcohol you will need are rum, vodka, whiskey, tequila and gin. That mix of different alcohol will make over 50 alcohol beverages! It is worth every dime! Please be aware that after purchasing this machine you will need maybe $200 worth of alcohol because it’s cheaper to buy the 1.75ml bottles so that once you fill up the clear bartesian bottles you will have alcohol leftover to refill them. I suggest using the alcohol brands suggested by bartesian. You will NOT be disappointed with this purchase!!!!!

Although this has s stages Light, Mediun, Strong even the light can be a bit over powering, but damn it is so easy and convenient to make a cocktail we have been using it just about every night or every other night. It is so easy it is almost dangerous. We still do a few drinks by hand but this thing is fantastic. We had so much fun with it we gave one to our kids. Not sure how they like it, They were doing the Dry January so…???

Love it, now I can have any type of mixed drink on demand without having to buy all of the ingredients. Just pop a pod in and push mix. Only complaint is, the unit does not adequately pierce the pod, so 50% of the drinks it makes gush over the pod chamber instead of coming out of the chamber in a nice clean stream. Bartesian needs to do a redesign on this….it can get messy if youre not paying attention.

I would rate this as a 4.5 if I could. I purchased this for my husband for Christmas and we have been thrilled with it. It’s very user friendly and comes with 5 glass bottles for various liqueurs. The bottles are also labeled so that you know what’s in each bottle. The box came with a sample set of drinks, which was nice so that we could see what each drink tastes like before buying more. Honestly, the drinks have been great and better than what you can buy at a bar. The machine allows you to set the alcohol level for your drinks- none, regular, and strong. It’s nice to be able to control how much alcohol is in the drink any time you make it.If you look on the bartesian web page you will find TONS of drink you can order for this machine. It’s a great variety and they have seasonal selections as well. They also ship quickly. The only reason I did not give this a 5 was because we’ve had a couple of pods that, for some reason, don’t read when we put them into the machine. If we take it out and put a new one in, it scans just fine but that means we’ve wasted a pod. If it weren’t for that issue I’d give this 5 stars. Even with that issue, though, I would buy this again.

4/5, so I think it’s a worthwhile product to purchase at the price point. Works as intended. For the steep price, the machine felt on the cheap side to me, especially the handle and capsule placing area. It’s not a solid feeling at all, unsturdy plastic. Additionally, the drinks, while good, are on the sugary side. If you aren’t hitting strong, you’ll likely be drinking a ton of sugar. Although some people like that, so maybe that’s working as intended too.Anyway, good product, works as intended, a few minor downsides though.

I bought this for my wife for a push present after we found out she was pregnant, so it’s that unused until after the delivery when we then got it out and started trying to make some drinks. The variety that I had originally purchased for it just didn’t really taste good. There was a very small volume of liquid produced and even the strongest drink wasn’t particularly strong and didn’t taste quite as advertised. This is not to say that there weren’t some that I could stomach, particularly aviation the one I could drink and long island iced tea seem to be palatable from everybody else although The Long Island of grenade is small and weak. We then went through a time frame where we weren’t drinking as much just because we still had drinks purchased that we didn’t really want to drink and we didn’t want to spend any money on new ones since we hadn’t drinking the last ones, so maybe a few months went by where we didn’t use it at all after a month of fairly regular useful or trying on the flavors that we purchased initially, until those expired and gave me an opportunity to purchase a wider variety. Spent a few hundred dollars buying the mixes which turned out to be a complete waste of money because this thing just never worked again. Nothing happened to it, it was stored clean and was never been dropped or dunked or anything like that. It just stopped working. Because it was a push present I waited for the entire pregnancy before trying it, all my options for refund and return pretty much exhausted before I even had a chance to use it. If I had the option for a return to get my money back, I absolutely would exercise it. I do not recommend this product

I’m delighted to give Bartesian a glowing 5-star review! This cocktail machine has truly transformed my home bar experience. The sleek design blends seamlessly into my kitchen, and the user-friendly interface makes mixing drinks a breeze. What sets Bartesian apart is its impressive selection of cocktail capsules, ranging from classic favorites to unique concoctions. The taste is consistently top-notch, and it’s like having a professional mixologist at your disposal.Cleaning is a breeze, and the quality of the ingredients in the capsules is evident with every sip. Bartesian has elevated my entertaining game, impressing guests with its convenience and premium cocktails. It’s a must-have for anyone who enjoys cocktails without the hassle of stocking a full bar. Cheers to Bartesian for making every night a five-star cocktail experience!

I’ve noticed that if the drink process doesn’t start, after you drop in a capsule, make sure the capsule barcode and more importantly that the barcode reader (under the lid handle) are clean. I’ve wasted a few capsules before I realized the barcode reader was not clean.BTW the Lemondrop capsules are excellent!

Positives: Product is fun for parties and the pods (while overpriced) are pretty good all around (with decent variety). Now the negatives:- Incredibly misleading on cleaning. Using a rinse tablet every once in a while is NOT ENOUGH. The gunk still builds up in the pumps and inner tubes (requiring full disassembly). If you are not comfortable with electronics, you will break your machine trying to clean it. On top of that, having to use PLIERS to plunge each of the four dispensers is insane.- Messy. Enjoy spilling alcohol everytime you turn over a newly filled bottle of alcohol. Oh and the pods themselves are sticky messes. And worst of all, half the time you need to run it twice because it only half emptied.- Power cord is flimsy and pretty short for this type of product. Especially when you can get a higher quality battery operated one for cheaper.- Claims support for 5 liquors but only has four slots for alcohol…. Who thought that made any sense? Switching the bottles for different drinks is tedious and annoying. They don’t even let you choose which alcohol to sub out. I don’t drink whiskey, I’d love to be able to just have that not used.Search for other Drinkmaker products. I don’t know if naming brands is allowed by the rechargeable one I just got supports the same Bartesian Drink pods at a higher quality and lower price. bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb

I received this product last week and was very excited to try it out only to be very disappointed in the first couple of drinks I made. I made a mai tai, mango margarita and long island iced tea. All of the drinks were so strong on the Regular setting that they were undrinkable. I did some research and found you need to make the drinks in a shaker with some ice and shake them well. This chills the drinks and dilutes them and makes them delicious. So, after initial disappointment I now love the Bartesian. The variety of drinks that you’re able to make without having to stock up on a ton of different mixers is great.

I was very skeptical about this because my husband & I always try making our favorite bar/restaurant drinks @ home and THEY NEVER TASTES AS GOOD so how could a machine with a pod taste that good?????BEST PURCHASE 👌 👍 LOVE IT!!! we have tried about 10/12 different drinks and only disliked 2 ( they were still ok just not our flavors). Best part is your don’t have to go out & you don’t need to tip the bar 😁

This machine is amazing. We absolutely love it. It is easy to use and the cocktails are top notch. The variety we can get now is something we could have never even imagined without our Bartesian. We have had it for a month. When we first got it the lid was hard to close and sometimes we would have to hold it down while it made the drink or it would stop. However, after corresponding with customer support and getting some tips (push down hard on the gray plastic lid – it’s ok and won’t break), it has been working perfectly for us. It has met every expectation and we are thrilled with it. The next challenge will be trying all the varieties of cocktails!!

Great idea. I’ve put vodka, rum and tequila in the canisters. The company has many flavored pods but the should be refrigerated. Was disappointed when I took it out of the box and couldn’t use it because the were no sample pods. None of the local stores had any so I needed to wait a week to have them delivered from the company

Let me first start off by saying that this seller is beyond professional and courteous! I needed this machine by 2/14 for a romantic evening with my husband and the seller was kind enough to ship it express with no additional fees. When I received my machine, I was immediately in love! It’s everything and more that you’ll want in your home! I don’t know who I love the most, the machine or the seller! If you don’t have one yet, it’s a must for any given day!

First, I will address the capsules and the quality of the cocktails. I had this since machine late December and I have tried about a fifteen of the capsules. I would say most of the ones I have tried are excellent and bartender quality. There are several that are just okay, and there a couple I would not buy again. The mai tai. rum breeze, northside, whisky sour, lemon drop, uptown rocks, and all the margarita ones are really good. The long island iced tea is one that I would not buy again. As for the machine itself, some have indicated in reviews that it seems flimsy. I would tend to agree with that. It does not have a solid feel to it. When you are closing it after putting in the capsule, you feel like you might break it. My primary issue however has been with the touchscreen. It is a little quirky. It often takes significant effort to select the strength, either not registering your selection at all, or selecting a different strength. It has also frozen or the screen is totally blank and I had to unplug it to reset it. Maybe my experience is isolated, but I think they may need to spend some time improving the touchscreen. All in all, I think it is a great concept that works really well. I gifted this one and purchased a professional model. No difference in the quality of the cocktails, but the drink selection setup is much better and is much sturdier.

My husband bought this for me because I love to make mixed drinks and I have always wanted one since they came out. I’m not disappointed, it makes the best drinks. Notes you have to learn how to choose your strength according to the type drink you’re making because a regular can be really strong so you have to play with it a bit to find out. The pods do tell you the amount of alcohol it will put in your drink according to what strength you choose but for me It’s according to your liking. I love the way it looks, it doesn’t leak, you never taste the last alcohol from the previous drink. The pods are a bit expensive but I guess if you were to buy all the mix for the different drinks you can make in each variety pack you could spend a lot. It works like a Keurig just smarter because it reads the pods to know which alcohol to add in each drink. I love it and I look forward to making many cocktails

I love how it directs me to what I need to do each step and easy clean. The size is just right for my counter. Worth the money! The look and blended with my other appliances! I love how I get to choose my liquors. I’m a vodka mixed drinker maybe rum or gin depending on what I’m drinking. But it doesn’t use tons of liquor unless I want it too! That’s the perfect versatile drink mixer from the non liquor drinkers to the heavy liquor drinkers I love it!

Got this gift for my husband. The only thing I would say is don’t be scared to give the lever a little more pressure after you put the pod in. If not the machine will not mix the pod and alcohol properly.Great if conversation piece and if you don’t just want bottles around for a bar. You will need a nice space set for it. Also, I’d suggest getting the traveling case for it. I plan on getting that for us eventually.

I wanted to give this less than 3 stars but the machine does work perfectly fine. The problem I have is with the capsules. Many of them don’t have anything close to the proper ingredients. The Watermelon Margarita, while it tastes fine, doesn’t have ANY watermelon at all, unless as stated on the capsule it has watermelon of some kind but “for color”. It also has apple juice in it, as I found many capsules substituted apple juice for the proper ingredient. I know of few drinks that call for apple juice. A Sidecar is made with Cognac and Orange Liqueur. Bartesian makes their Sidecar with Whiskey and lemon and orange juice concentrates. The Painkiller? No coconut at all. Hemingway Daquiri? Suppose to be Rum, Maraschino Liqueur Lime juice and grapefruit juice. Bartesians is made with rum and VODKA(!) and once again Apple juice. No Maraschino Liqueur for you! I bought this because it claimed to use the finest ingredients but that’s just not the case. It WILL make a perfectly fine drink it’s just in my opinion an imitation of the real thing. I emailed the manufacturer with my comments but was brushed aside and they insisted the capsules were made with only the finest ingredients. Skip this and make the drink yourself.

Absolutely love this machine. I purchased it for myself as a Christmas gift. I’m an occasional drinker. But when I do have a drink, it has to be good in taste. As well as being balanced in the different mixers and alcohols. This does all of that. This is the professional grade. It is very well-made. I got this on Black Friday for 299 which usually runs 499 for the professional grade. The difference between the professional grade and the basic Bartesian is that the professional grade allows you to use four different liquors. Gin/rum, tequila, vodka, whiskey. So for a few bucks more you can make almost any drink you wanna make. FYI, don’t try to make coffee or anything in this machine other than what it calls for it will shut down. As far as performance, durability functionality, etc. it’s just a beautiful very easy Machine that anyone can use. It’s all digital. So when you put your pod in it, it will ask you the strength of the drink. If you want it strong regular, etc.. It’s very customizable to the buyer. So for me, I bought the sex on the beach pods And just to give it a little kick. I add the “summer edition” Red Bull after I make the drink through the bartesian. I add the summer edition Red Bull to the sex on the beach and it is awesome. But whether you add anything to it or tweak it after you have made it or before you make it it. It’s good regardless of whether you add anything in it. But again everything is labeled as to what goes and what. You wanna follow the instructions so if you want to add anything into your drink to tweak it whether it’s before and or after you make the drink, you wanna put it in the cup and not the machine.Anyway, I never do reviews, but I loved this so much I wanted to share. If you’re hesitant because of the price tag, trust and believe that I am a very stingy person and I am very particular about where my money goes and this is gonna last me for a long time and it’s going to be great on holidays and hosting, etc.. I literally don’t have to do anything. The drinks make themselves this thing pays for itself over and over again.

Love the ease and convenience of this machine!! I have been looking at it for so long trying to decide whether it was worth the investment and I must say, yes it was! It is small and doesn’t take up much space like mixers and everything is already measured out correctly for you. I am so excited to try this machine and I will review it as soon as I can. But upon unpacking it today, I see I got two tequila bottles and no vodka. From what I’ve read, the system is smart enough to read the lids so I can’t just put vodka in one of the tequila bottles. Since vodka was the first cocktails I bought, I’m dead in the water until Bartisian sends me a new lid. Bummer.

I’m fond of tipping while I cook and this gadget makes it so quick and easy! I’ve tried a few different capsules, but so far like the pom margarita best! I wish they were a bit less costly 🙁 One point that’s not made entirely clear in the directions is that you need to select which alcohol you’ll be using EVERY time instead of just when you’re switching alcohols.

So easy to assemble, easy to operate. Win win! The pods work out to about $4 each plus the cost of alcohol that you provide. The machine is very unreliable. You have to hold the top down with consistent pressure for it to 1) read the capsule, 2) to have the screen show the correct screen to start making the drink or it will go back to sleep while it’s making the drink. This can happen on several occasions when making 1 drink resulting in a crapping drink. 3) at times the screen won’t power on and you have to unplug from the wall, unplug from the machine and leave it for 15 min before you try and plug it back in. Super inconvenient when you have a party and guests waiting. 4) the bottles when being changed out or refilled leaves 2ml of liquor in the well and the bottle leaks all over. You have to remove the liquor from the well before you replace the bottle or it makes a further mess.

I purchased 2 of these. One for my husband, and one for my brother and his spouse. Well my husband put his together and it worked beautifully, and still works. However, the one they received didn’t work. Brother in law followed all the instructions and not a drop would come out of the dispenser. I’m so disappointed because they were so excited about getting it, only for it to not work. Now I have to get them another and pray that it works.

This is one of the coolest things ever. I bought this for Christmas for my husband. He loves it really to show out for the guest. It makes the drink wonderfully with the pods you have to purchase. His favorite is the old fashion drink. I recommend this product it is really cool.

I purchased the Bartesian Cocktail Making Machine for a closing gift and the homeowners used it at their house warming party, and it has completely elevated their home bar experience! It’s so easy to use—just insert a cocktail pod, select your strength, and let the machine do the rest. The drinks taste just like they were made by a professional bartender, and the variety of cocktails available is fantastic. Perfect for entertaining or just unwinding after a long day. Highly recommend for any cocktail lover!

Cool machine but the cost of the capsules are ridiculous. If you have 2 friends that want a margarita. You need to buy 2 sets of capsules because thwy only come with 1 flavor in each set

Great gift! Bought this for my son and daughter-in-law who love to entertain. They had just created a “pub” in their new home so this was the perfect addition! They love it and have had lots of compliments on the variety of cocktails they can offer their guests!
